Bolivian Highway

When we listed the ten worst driving habits in our last newsletter and on our blog here, some readers responded that bad habits are directly related to bad roads.  Fair point we thought…

So when we had this email arrive in our ‘in box’ we had to put it on the blog.

This really is a road in Bolivia, that we would all dread to drive on.

Read on and see if you could imagine yourself at the wheel.

Buckle UP!

Stremnaya Road is nicknamed ‘The Road of Death’ and it will take no convincing as to how appropriate that is..

So far it looks just a little challenging, but this is just the start. The next few shots will start you stomach churning!

Phew.. The Worst Is Behind Us

Now that has to be the most frightening journey we’ve ever been on. What’s the worst road you’ve ever experienced?  Surely it can’t have been as bad as this?

However there are dodgy roads right around the world, including Australia, so please let us know your worst experiences below and we’ll put them on the site (pictures would be great, too!). http://credit-n.ru/potreb-kredit.html

    It’s not one road. These images of several different roads, which are actually on different continents.

    Try going from Mittagong to the Wombeyan Caves in NSW. Its only about 20 K but the scenery is spectacular and the drops as steep and high. Sorry I can not give you pictures, as my wife wont let me go on it again, once was enough

    The Myth of Stremnaya Road

    This little ‘mystery’ was solved over a year ago now, but it is still making it’s rounds on the internet. I just received one of those mass forwards from a co-worker of mine entitled “Stremnaya Road in Bolivia – The Road of Death” or something like that. The most interesting thing is that these mailings often include images of several different roads, which are actually on different continents. So I will try to sort out which one is which but do not trust me to get it right.

    First: Yungas Road in Bolivia;
    Second: Guoliang Tunnel in China;

    That is one road that I would not like to be on, ever! To drive on that is just something I would not wish upon my worst enemy. There must be some horrific accidents happening here on a regular basis.

    I’ve encountered some serious potholed roads, river crossings and other interesting things on southern african roads, but nothing like this ever.

    Thanks for the reality check! Us westerners have it easy!
