BMWs are safe vehicles, and the new 8 Series is no exception.  ABS brakes are always working in your favour, automatically sensing when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking.  Modulating the brake pressure in a controlled skid also increases the driver’s ability to turn the vehicle while braking.  The crash avoidance technology will also be on the alert.  The 2024 8 Series Sedan also boasts stability control, a suite of airbags, and seat belt pre-tensioners front and rear.  Even the overhead airbags are standard.  Then there is the car’s impeccable road handling combined with lane-keeping assistance.

Performance

The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) 2024 BMW 840i M Sport Sedan packs some serious performance potential under the hood for out on the road.  The in-line six-cylinder 3.0-litre turbo motor boasts a maximum of 250 kW power, and there is up to 500 Nm of torque available between 1600 and 4500 rpm.  The petrol ICE has DOHC with VVT and Lift technology, and it is superbly smooth and refined for any task.  You should see it returning decent fuel economy, averaging a range of around 8–9 litres/100 km on a combined city/urban/highway run.  The engine’s stop/start technology goes a long way to lowering the fuel use and emissions, especially in the city.  Capable of quick acceleration (0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds) and having a limited top speed of 250 km/h, the 840i M Sport Sedan is a sheer joy to drive.
