Hard on the heels of the first versions of the BMW 1-series, the BMW 125i has recently made its appearance. Certainly a model to look out for, the 125i has all of the classic Beemer hot points.
The 125i has the smallest body shell available to the BMW line-up. When you add a quick engine to the mix, and the high power-to-weight-ratio that is thus achieved from the compact, spunky design, you have yourself one heavenly driving experience. Add rear-wheel-drive, and you have a load of fun to be had! The BMW 125i has the in-line six-cylinder 3.0 litre engine. The smooth thrust that comes from the power plant can be pushed to the 160 kW maximum with sublime ease. Always ready to perform, you will enjoy the very impressive 270 Nm of torque that the 125i engine uses from a commendably low 2500 rpm. Needless perhaps to mention, the BMW 125i covers the ground swiftly. The chunky exterior lines still hold a true 31 co-efficiency level of aerodynamics. So, not only do you look extremely good heading down the road in one of the hottest sets of wheels money can buy, you can scream through the air at an acceleration rate of 0-100 km/h in a little over six seconds. Wind the BMW 125i right out on an appropriate piece of road and you will push past the 200 km/h mark in very quick fashion. BMW informs me that the 125i’s top speed is 245 km/h. Not bad, when you consider a Ford Falcon is well and truly running out of puff by then. The chassis is simply superb, and the driver will enjoy consistent well balanced handling time and time again. The brakes always remain up to the task of hauling in a flying 125i. This performance is put on the tarmac via an efficient six-speed auto, or manual, gearbox.
Comfort inside the little Beemer is fine, and all the expected luxury items from a car of this quality can be found inside the impressively designed interior. All the ladies out there will enjoy the beautiful colour co ordinations that the BMW interior design team have put together. For those of you who don’t mind paying a little extra for leather will be in for a real treat. Sound systems are of premium quality, and safety is off the top shelf too.
Whether you fancy the coupe styling or the wind in the hair convertible design, you can most certainly try the best Europe has on offer and drive a funtastic BMW 125i today. The convertible is my choice. How about you?
