I think these are the most striking looking big Beemers I’ve seen with a 7-Series badge on the lid. Don’t they look powerful and a little aggressive in their stance? Glorious lines, beautiful looks and large domineering alloys hint at the effortless performance that both BMW Petrol engines deliver. Only those with a fair lump of money can buy into a new BMW 7-Series or a car of similar standards, however the drive and ride is very special and rarely matched.
It’s pretty simple really; the 2016 BMW 740i and BMW 740 Li have a 3.0-litre engine that develops a healthy 240 kW and 450 Nm. Via a silky smooth eight-speed automatic, these cars can complete 0-100 km/h in around 5.5 seconds. Under the bonnet of the 2016 BMW 750i and BMW 750 Li lies a large 4.4-litre eight-cylinder with 330 kW and 650 Nm. The same dash can be completed in just 4.4 seconds! Limousine style and comfort with the acceleration of a sports car, all four of the BMW 7-Series Petrol models are a masterpiece of automotive engineering.
Travelling inside the new 2016 7-Series is so effortless. Whether you are in the front or rear seats, the adaptive twin-axle air suspension also boasts an automatic self-levelling suspension. It is this kind of underpinning that ensures that the ride is so smooth and gentle when travelling at every day speeds. This is one of the best rides in its class, and few cars can match the new 7-Series in this area. Once you hit 120 km/h, the car automatically drops the suspension height by 10 mm to hunker down for the higher speeds. BMW’s Driving Experience Control has numerous settings: SPORT+, SPORT, COMFORT, COMFORT+, ECO PRO and ADAPTIVE modes. ADAPTIVE mode can automatically set the engine and gears for a sportier or more comfortable driving style in accordance with the way an individual is driving at the time. Pull up at the lights and the big BMW 7-Series uses its automatic Start/Stop function to reduce fuel consumption by switching off the engine when the vehicle comes to a temporary stop.
Big on safety, the BMW 7-Series Petrol models all come with the highest safety features that include: active headrests, driver and front passenger airbags, a seat occupancy detector for the front passenger airbag. There are head airbags in the front and rear, and side airbags for the driver and front passenger. If an accident is detected and unavoidable, the seat belts are pre-tensioned, windows are closed, the sliding sunroof is closed, backrests of passenger seat and rear seats are positioned, and there is even automatic braking occurring after the crash has occurred. Under extreme braking, the 7-Series will employ its dynamic braking light system, where the flashing brake lights and hazard indicators function at the same time. All models come with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Brake Assist.
Other flash bits a techie loves are the BMW Display screen which features LCD colour display and touch control. All the information you need to know can be displayed on the screen easily – even info like the fuel gauge and range, service information and vehicle locking etc. Ever wished for an easy parking alternative? Then the new 7-Series has an Active Park Distance Control front and rear. You’ll never accidentally mix paints while parking again.
BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Recognition is excellent, and it uses a camera system with infrared technology to enable people and animals to be noted in situations where visibility is poor. A Comfort Access System provides you with keyless access to the vehicle and keyless engine start. You can also open and close the tailgate without manual contact. BMW’s Voice Control works very well and it detects your intonation and tone so that you can even make telephone calls without lifting a finger and without having to modulate your natural voice. Equipped with automatic air-conditioning and boasting 4-zone, fully automatic temperature control, your trips are going to be very comfortable, indeed.
If I owned one of these I would definitely go the whole way, and at no extra cost opt to have my new BMW 7-Series kitted out with some M Sport packaging. M Sporting your new seven series includes some awesome 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, a BMW Individual roof liner in Anthracite, chrome trim around the car’s front and rear aprons, door sill finishers with M symbols, fine-wood trim, front side panels with an M badge, a M aerodynamics package, an M leather steering wheel, and an M Sports Exhaust (750i/Li only).
This is a hugely loaded luxury/performance car, and there are so many features one could mention. It is, of course, a recognised best luxury car in the world. Such a nice classy car to travel in, the new BMW 7-Series Petrol models are one of the best cars for travelling the road in comfort, style, and with some serious performance as well.
The current BMW 7-Series Petrol model series includes the:
