It’s nice to know that Chrysler is doing ok in the light of the economic environment. Their latest addition to the Sebring range is in the form of an open top tourer. Pleasantly designed and very smooth, the new Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet makes a nice addition as a small family machine.
Inside the nicely laid out two-door Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet is room enough for five occupants. The driver enjoys comfortable seating that has excellent adjustment for finding exactly the right arrangement for hours at the wheel. Electric adjustment is also available for the front passenger seat. Leather comes as the standard upholstery used in the Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet, and excellent craftsmanship ensures that the cabin looks very polished indeed. With satin-silver accents and inserts, the Sebring cabriolet has a beautiful interior. An analogue clock feature helps make it to the board room on time, while a funky feature allows you to know what the temperature is outside the car. Presumably, when you drive the Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet, you will spend a number of hours with the hood up. It’s nice to know, then, that the car is equipped with air conditioning that boasts an automatic temperature control feature and an air filtration system. Simplistic dials and buttons on the front dash make operating the Sebring’s electronic functions a breeze, and the air-conditioning when operating on full is serene and quiet but very effective. A nice feature are the two solidly built cup holders which are located in the console area between the front seats. The no nonsense design is much more sensible than some of the flimsy fold out designs found in other cars. Clear speedometer and rev counter dials are appealing on the eye, and you are treated with a clever temperature and compass gauge, trip computer and tyre pressure monitoring display. Chrysler has ensured that the buyer will not be disappointed, and has gone to great lengths to make the best items available as standard. Central locking, LED interior lights, a rear-view mirror that is auto dimming, power outlets for running portable electronic devices and a leather steering wheel that has audio controls are great feature worthy of a mention.
Speaking of audio, the standard AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo system with 6 speakers and portable MP3 access via an integrated audio input jack has plenty of grunt and sound clarity to keep most people very happy. If you want to spend a little extra on your Chrysler Sebring Cabriolet, there is available a MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System with AM/FM radio, single-disc DVD player (compatible with DVDs, MP3s and WMA audio), 20GB hard drive, USB port, U-Connect, GPS Navigation and 6 speaker Boston Acoustics® system with a 6-channel 276-watt amplifier. Now this will keep the ‘boof heads’ happy.
On the road, the Chrysler Sebring Cabrio is wonderful to drive. The top slips away effortlessly in a few moments, and then you can enjoy open air motoring to the max. Inside the engine bay are plenty of horses ready for a gallop. Should you require a quick overtaking manoeuvre, a fast take off at the lights, or even just power enough to tow the boat, the Sebring Cabrio is more than just a good looking machine. With a V6 producing 137 kW and 256 Nm of torque, the power is always ready for accessing when the moment demands it. A holiday in one of these with the boat towing along behind, is a very satisfying proposition. Effortless performance and good road-holding ensure the driver feels safe and in control at all times. One of the hallmarks of the Sebring is its perfect blend of ride comfort and balance. A six-speed auto makes sure that the Sebring Cabriolet is always ready to swing into the optimum rev range for power-on-demand and fuel efficiency.
Chrysler have done well in the safety arena, with ESP, ABS, Brake Assist, Air Bags, a child seat anchor latch system, an inside emergency boot lid release, height-adjustable 3-point driver and front passenger seat belts with travelling buckles and seat belt pretensioners; 3-point lap/shoulder belts in the back, and a security alarm and a Sentry Key anti-theft engine immobiliser – for keeping the covetous eye at bay.
The Chrysler Sebring Cabrio has so much going for it; great looks, open air touring and oodles of comfort in a very suave and refined package. One has to recommend a car every now and then, and as this car is not overly expensive when stacked up against its competitors, you’d be nuts not to check the Chrysler Sebring Cabrio out,
