Through the red dust you can catch a glimpse of a black shape with glowing red eyes. No, it’s not a Tasmanian Devil, but it is the latest version of the Ford Falcon Ute braking, as it slows to take the next trench across the rancid smelling track through the Outback. The heat has brought out the earthly smells, however inside the comfortable new Ford Falcon Ute MKII the climate control air conditioning can shield the occupants from the climbing heat and wild environment outside.
Made for Australian conditions, and proudly developed and built in Australia, the new Ford Falcon Ute MKII is the best model yet and, all things considered, the best real ute in Australia. Made for work and made for comfort, the big Aussie icon is tremendously enjoyable to drive. Over tough country roads and tracks the Falcon Ute MKII provides a composed compliant ride. Sure, there is a bit of jiggling without a load on the back when tackling heavily corrugated roads, but the strong suspension and chassis cope admirably well with this sort of everyday task. Load up the rear tray or deck, and the powerful Falcon engines carry on as if there wasn’t anything difficult about the One Tonne load. The Falcon Ute Styleside Box version has a rear suspension rated for ¾ Tonne. All other MKII Falcon utes can carry the full 1 Tonne load.
Inside the Falcon Ute MKII there are plenty of creature comforts to make any long journey whistle by quickly. Fully adjustable seats, sports cloth trim seats (cloth trim in the base Falcon Ute models), a wiring facility for a cargo lamp, USB and iPod integration, Bluetooth communications, a standard audio system with a monochrome display, AM/FM radio, single slot CD and 4 speakers (total 112 watts) make up a pretty nice ute environment. A Multi Function Display includes distance to empty, average speed, average fuel consumption and a speed warning system as critical information for ypur planed journey. Cruise control with steering wheel mounted switches and steering wheel mounted audio controls are also nice touches.
Safety for the latest MKII Ford Falcon Ute is right up there with the best of them. Ford provides the MKII Ute with its Intelligent Safety System which includes driver and front passenger airbags, side head/thorax airbags, pyrotechnic seatbelt buckle pretensioners, an advanced restraints module, a crash severity sensor, a driver’s seat position sensor and a beltminder system. On the active safety front, an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and a clever driver fatigue warning system all work togehter to keep you on the straight and narrow.
You’ll be too busy enjoying the new MKII Ford Falcon Ute’s brilliant driving experience to get yourself in a pickle. As far as ute experiences go, the MKII ute’s car-like handling and grunty engines will be keeping you far too involved to have you fall asleep at the wheel or get yourself off-line in a hurry. The ZF six-speed automatic gearbox works beautifully to keep the engine revs at the perfect pitch for peak performance and best fuel efficiency. Falcon Ute MKII power and performance is superior. LPG and petrol engines are available. On four of the Falcon Utes, the 4.0L DOHC DIVCT I6 engine is the powerhouse used. The EcoLPi version also uses this same unit. It is the Ford Falcon Ute MKII XR6 Turbo that gets the 4.0L DOHC DIVCT Turbo I6 engine that doesn’t have a rival even coming close to it for sheer power, performance and driving pleasure.
If you need a vehicle for the business that will draw the right sort of attention, then you can’t go passed the new Ford Falcon MKII ute. It looks great and packs a serious punch.
