They call it the ultimate Falcon; and with good cause because this one’s a beauty.  The new Ford Falcon XR8 FG X does raise the question as to why Ford would still want to hock the Falcon model off at the end of next year.  I mean, really, why would you get rid of such a class act that seats five adults in comfort for long distances and has such a rugged reputation of being able to last the distance as time progresses?  Yes, sales are down but you’re always going to get the die-hard fans from here in Australia and across the ditch – not to mention the UK’s Top Gear’s love for the Aussie muscle car.  And muscle car the new Ford Falcon XR8 FG X model is.

Packed with instantaneous raw V8 power that burbles its way brilliantly to the full 335 kW maximum output and 570 Nm of torque, this is a colossal performer that always brings plenty of smiles to the face for any true-blue driving enthusiast.  The torque hits its maximum twist from as low as 2200 rpm and runs flatly through to 5500 rpm.  The result is all thrills!

You will have noticed the new design for the big Falcon sedan.  The FG X is more streamlined and sophisticated in its overall appearance, fundamentally aided by the narrower headlight design and deeper, more imposing front air dam.  The Falcon XR8 FG X design is very well balanced and will appeal to both performance-seeking and understated enthusiasts alike.  Running over the rear of the FG X XR8 are smooth lines that also reveal a narrowing of the tail lights.  A range of crisp and vivid colours are available for the new Falcon buyer some of which include some of my favourites:  Lightening strike blue and Emperor Red.
