Ford Falcon XR8 Sprint

Ford is leaving its Falcon base of fans a sensational memoir as the time for the Falcon production era is soon to close.  Known as the Ford Falcon XR Sprint, the XR6 Sprint and XR8 Sprint both provide sizzling performance and loads of roomy comfort.

As with any preceding Falcon model, the Falcon XR Sprint provides one of the nicest and most comfortable seating you will find anywhere.  Tall adults love the Falcon, as the rear seat room is suitable for people with tall frames.  Loaded with luxury items, the new XR Sprint will impress with Falcon XR Sprint Unique Leather/Lux Suede Accented Trim with Sprint stitched seats, premium audio, hands-free Bluetooth communications, electrically adjustable and heated front leather sports seats and an 8-inch touch screen for controlling a stack of excellent features.  Satellite navigation, Ford’s MyKey, and top-shelf safety items make the XR Sprint a very desirable car.

A six-speed automatic gearbox is the standard running gear for the big Falcon; however, the Ford Falcon XR8 Sprint has the option available for a six-speed manual to those who like to control the thundering horses under the bonnet themselves. 

The multi-link control blade rear suspension is taut and tracks very neatly through the corners, feeling nimble and very capable when pushed.  Big brakes and driver aids all help make the XR Sprint a great performer that is always ready for excitement.

XR6 Sprint models boast 325 kW at 6000 rpm and 576 Nm at 2750 rpm.  XR8 Sprint models have similar figures with 345 kW at 5750 rpm and 575 Nm from 2220 – 6250 rpm.  Even larger turbocharger, intercooler and injectors does mean that over boosting can provide 45 kW and 74 Nm more power and torque for the XR6 Sprint.

A striking exterior means that the Ford Falcon XR Sprint looks awesome the moment anyone sets their eyes on one.   Not as bold as an FPV but muscly and sophisticated, the XR Sprint is quite something to behold in its prestige paint work.

Expect 0-100 km/h sprint times of around 5 seconds – even under.  The XR6 Sprint is only available with an automatic transmission; however the new automatic has a special launch control feature.  If you can master the six-speed manual available to the XR8 Sprint, the sprint times are scintillatingly quick.
