How good is the new Ford Territory TX? Brilliance is something reserved for things that are exceptional. And the bold, rounded elegance of the face-lifted Ford Territory captures the roominess and SUV practicality in an exceptionally well honed package. And yes, it’s brilliant.
The word versatile is thrown around gaily by many a happy car reviewer. But, in the Ford Territory TX case, I think it is warranted.
If you don’t need the added AWD traction that the Ford Territory TX AWD offers, you will be more that contented with the RWD model. The SUV feels light and agile, which is exceptional when you think of the ground clearance that the Territory TX boasts. Excursions off-road in the AWD variant become quite an adventure. In the RWD version, there is still plenty of scope for scooting off up a gravel road or down a river track for a picnic and swim. Boasting a first class Dynamic Stability Control system, Grade Control Logic, an Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Traction Control system allows the very capable Territory TX to stretch its legs. And stretch its legs it can. With a 190kW 4.0 litre DOHC six-cylinder engine linked to a 4-speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sports Shift in the RWD model, progress is smooth and powerful with plenty of thrust. The AWD version has a six-speed trannie. Pulling the horse float or twin-axle caravan becomes a breeze when there is as much as 383 Nm of torque available from as low as 2500 rpm. It all makes sense now, doesn’t it?
Being up nice and high provides the Ford Territory TX plenty of visual ascendency. The car feels solid and is loaded with many safety features. Added to the already mentioned active safety features are the comprehensive passive safety features which include: dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags, side curtain airbags, pyrotechnic seatbelt buckle pretensioners, a belt-minder system, an advanced restraints module, a crash severity sensor and a driver’s seat position sensor. One excellent and fun to use item on the Territory TX is the handy reverse sensing system that uses a reversing camera to prevent embarrassing accidents from occurring when in the parking lot.
Driving the tastefully designed Ford Territory TX is enjoyable, particularly as the SUV comes with a good-looking exterior that rates as one of the nicest SUV designs on the road. The body coloured bumpers, door handles and mirrors add to the classy appearance. Of course, the standard 17-inch alloy wheels make the Ford Territory TX really stand out.
The interior is beautifully comfortable and is kitted out with many items that will please and pamper family and friends. By the way, you can sit up to seven people in comfort and style too. There are no less than 30 storage compartments to make carrying the kids’ favourite knick-knacks on a journey realistic. I can’t think of a better way to get around Australia than in the very competent new face lifted Ford Territory TX. There is no excuse for not having a weekend of adventure away with the family when owning a spacious and relaxing Ford Territory TX.
Park one of these up your driveway and be impressed!
