Foton has a great range of utes available to the astute buyer. A very good Dual-Cab Tunland range has a set of roomy utes to help make life easy for work, play and other family commitments. Ditch your old sedan and have the pleasure of owning a new Tunland Dual Cab – then you can then carry the family and a whole lot more luggage. Both 4×2 and 4×4 options are available for Dual Cab models.
A serious ute, Foton provides the 4×4 Tunland with some real off-road capability in the form of a Borgwarner 4×4 transfer case making short work of the rough stuff. Both 4×2 and 4×4 models come with a limited slip-differential at the rear; so when 4WD is selected, you have plenty of traction. Power assisted steering has good feedback on the open road, and the Tunland rides very well, indeed. The five-speed manual is friendly to use, and it has a robust feel about it.
Load up the rear seats with passengers, and they’ll be nicely taken care of on a comfy bench with space for three adults. Leg room is good, and there are power windows in the rear. The rear seat flips open so that you can store gear behind the seat. As I own a dual cab ute, this space comes in really handy, especially when you need a quick go-to-space for chucking stuff behind when you are doing a quick tidy up before occupants climb aboard. Good comfy leather seats help to keep long journeys enjoyable. The leather upholstery is also easy to clean when you get down-and-dirty in the mud.
The Foton Tunland Dual Cab comes with a plastic pick-up liner for the rear deck. This is a great addition because when you come to chucking something like a load of shingle on the back you won’t need to worry about chipping the paintwork. You can also wash these decks down with ease. Foton’s payload for the Dual Cab is rated at over 1000 kg.
A 76 litre tank holds the fuel for the journey ahead, and with the Tunland capable of fuel consumption around 8.5 litres/100 km on the open road, the times you need to fill it are considerably less than some similarly grunt-endowed utes. The power for the Foton Tunland Dual Cab comes from a highly rated Cummins 2.8-litre turbo-diesel, 4 cylinder, 16 valve, SOHC engine. With up to 120 kW of power available and 360 Nm of torque from 1800 rpm, the Tunland has some kick to the drive.
Features like air-conditioning, cruise control, power windows, leather-trim seat facings, a leather-trim steering wheel rim, a CD/MP3/Radio audio system, Bluetooth streaming, AUX and USB ports, a tilt-adjusting steering wheel with controls and an eight-way adjustable driver seat are what you’ll find inside. And as far as safety goes, BOSCH 4-channel ABS with EBD (Anti-skid Brake System with Electronic Brake force Distribution), dual front airbags, rear parking sensors and an engine immobiliser are some of the standard features on Dual Cab models. A Traction Control System, Hill Decent Control, Hill Hold Control and Hydraulic Brake Assist are also available.
The new Foton Tunland range is the best Chinese Ute on the market. It might not be completely loaded with kit, but there is enough bells and whistles on-board for making this a decent work ute. Each Tunland product comes with a 3 year/100,000 km warranty and a price that is almost too good to be true. Pricing sets this tidy ute well apart from the others. It’s a seriously sound enough ute to get the mainstay rivals a little upset. Instead of paying $50 – $60 k on a new ute, why not buy two Foton Tunland 4×4 Dual Cabs for the same price?
