Time has moved on since we owned our 2001 Honda Accord sedan, but that car still holds fond memories of being a comfortable, totally reliable, efficient performer.  Now some 21 years on, the 2022 Honda Accord makes its way to Australia.  The latest Accord Sedan is much bigger all round now, and its technology levels are first class, its safety credentials outstanding.

Honda’s new mid-size sedan delivers a drive that is both refined and comfortable.  You have the option of a 2.0-litre or 1.5 Turbo engine for powering your new Accord, and the top of the range VTi-LX Trim is the one and only trim level for now – and the VTi-LX trim is a beauty.  So in 2.0-litre guise, the hybrid set-up puts out a decent 158 kW and proves to be very smooth and efficient (48 mpg or around 5 litres/100 km is easily attainable).  Both engines have had their engine management systems tweaked to deliver smoother and more linear acceleration, and both powerplants have ample power when pushed.

The latest 2.0-litre Honda Hybrid experience is one of the best available, and the twin hybrid motor design ensures you spend more time on Electric power alone for that silent, whisper-quiet, driving experience we are all learning to love.  Hybrid Accords also boast better off the line acceleration than the punchy 1.5 Turbo.

Out and about, the new Accord’s ride is nicely settled, and you can really sit back and enjoy your progress in this new model.  The steering is sharp and composed, the brakes strong and smooth, and because the seats offer a great blend of comfort and support, the new Accord Sedan loves long open road drives where you can really stretch its legs.

The Honda Accord’s exterior lines and design have been tweaked for 2022, and the roomy Accord Sedan has had things like the front grille widened, more chrome around its nose, and sleeker and more powerful LED headlights that have exceptional light illumination cast long and wide out on the road at night.  Around the base of the front bumper the fog lights and their design have been updated.  Now, you can get to choose between three different styles of alloys for the wheels, and you can get your new Accord with some black exterior trimmings, which you’ll find with black wing mirror casings, a black strip over the top of the spoiler, and a black shark-fin antennae.

Honda’s ACE body structure is a very strong safety cage, and with the latest active safety sensing technology like active cruise control, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, and reverse braking assist all present and correct, the 2022 Honda Accord Sedan is a great choice for the road.  The updated lane keeping assist system works smoothly and delivers more natural and effective lane centring. Some nice touches are things like wireless smartphone charging, heated and powered front seats, remote engine start, and smart entry.  Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features that play your favourite music through the premium sound system.  Communication connectivity is seamless and easy to use.  Two USB ports are found on the back of the centre console for back seat passengers to use for their phones.  Connection ports at the front are located in the cubby below the air-con buttons and dials.
