Always a prime mover, Honda have been making excellent vehicles with high build quality and a reputation of reliability and fuel efficiency. I often see Honda as being the quiet achievers that get on with the job of making great cars.
Honda’s has released one of the newest models, their 2024/2025 Accord e:HEV RS sedan, and it might just be that something special you could be looking for. Boasting crisp Platinum White, sleek Crystal Black, bold Meteoroid Grey, or elegant Lunar Silver, these new Accords always bring that premium look. Elegant from all angles, Honda’s new Accord is a sedan that brings a sharp, athletic style, which looks particularly attractive in this large saloon shape. The sporty RS design has RS 18-inch alloys to fill out the wheel arches nicely and they come in their premium Machined Matte Berlina Black tone as standard.
One of the big steps forward when it comes to the efficient technology used for propelling this spacious sedan comes by way of the 2024 Honda Accord being an exclusively hybrid sedan. This makes the new Honda Accord e:HEV RS a very sensible choice for those who like not only the thought but the experience of being able to travel a lot of their distances in town and in urban environments using its battery/electric energy alone. Then, as the course of the journey takes you further away from city streets and built-up areas, the backup of having the new powerful and efficient 2.0-litre petrol engine can take you further across the plains or through the Blue Mountains, where the Accord’s real playground is, ensuring that the joy of owning the modern Accord remains at its finest. You really will enjoy the way the new Honda Accord handles the open road and turns precisely, all the while remaining supremely quiet and offering a very comfortable ride. On these high-speed roads, you can make the journey into an even more exhilarating experience by opening up the panoramic sunroof and filling the cabin with sunlight and those glorious sky views. By the way, the panoramic sunroof is a feature that comes standard on the new e:HEV RS sedan.
Sustainability and efficiency don’t just stop at the city boundaries because the technology that backs this is central to the Hybrid Accord, so with its electric motors and a smart generator, it keeps on charging up its battery pack even during long highway driving. A seamless blend of hybrid performance comes as the system automatically switches between the three driving modes known as EV, Hybrid and Engine Drive. This brings with it the capacity to optimise the Accord’s performance and efficiency. A selectable E button is also present for the driver to flick on. Selecting this mode lets you prioritise EV driving and battery charging, particularly if there is a sufficient level of charge present in the battery unit.
Performance is brisk and satisfying. Combining the capable driving credentials with the car’s spacious seats, lovely-weighted steering, and excellent ride comfort, the new Accord is a special long-distance tourer. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol–electric hybrid works well to provide 152 kW of power and a healthy 335 Nm of torque. Expect to be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 8.5 seconds, all the while sipping just 4.3 litres/100 km of 91 ULP fuel on a combined cycle (OK, maybe not while you’re doing this sort of acceleration, but you know what I mean).
There are loads of premium new safety features incorporated underneath the exceptionally suave sedan’s skin. As you enjoy driving the new Accord e:HEV RS sedan, you can select the large Head-Up display, which keeps your preferred vehicle and journey information in your line of sight. There is a complete set of eight SRS airbags cocooning the cabin occupants. These include dual front airbags, front-side airbags, knee airbags, and full cabin length curtain airbags, all primed and ready to deploy if you ever do happen to get into a serious accident. The Automatic Collision Detection system is a premium feature that will actually notify Honda’s Connect Customer Care Centre via the new Honda Connect app when any airbag has been deployed. However, there are plenty of the best active safety features working in your favour to prevent an accident from ever occurring in the first place. Systems like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) assist you when you’re want to change lanes or when you need to reverse. Collision mitigation, emergency braking systems, adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow feature, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic headlight detection, adaptive LED headlights, LED taillights, and even traffic jam detection all aid your journey from start to finish. Incidentally, traffic jam detection is pretty handy in a place like Sydney because it will help guide you quickly to new more effective routes.
The 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan also has Google built into the car’s infotainment system, which is a first for Honda. All of the familiar apps (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) are available, and you can select these by using your voice command. You can easily make those hands-free calls, adjust the cabin temperature, find where you are on the map, and so forth, via voice control. At the centre of the dash is a large and elegant 12.3-inch digital display screen, which can also be controlled by touch. The standard car apps are there to be used for accessing your favourite smartphone features, which display directly up on the screen. Of course, the 360-degree camera system gives you a full picture of what’s happening around the vehicle, and, when you select reverse gear, the area in the blind spot displays on the screen.
Talking about sound, the Honda Accord Hybrid sedan boasts a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system for all that awesome concert hall depth and clarity – simply lovely!
When you buy a new Honda there are many attractive features that come with being the proud owner of a new Honda like the e:HEV RS sedan. One of the biggies is having that 5-year complimentary Honda Connect subscription, which also comes with its extensive warranty and roadside assistance.
