More power and some extra gadgetry have been added to the thumping big HSV Clubsport R8. Driving is for the pure enthusiast when driving the new HSV Clubsport R8 which now has a 6.2-litre V8, 325 kW and 550 Nm of monster torque.
An Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) allows close connection to pretty much all systems onboard the R8. It’s amazing to witness the real time vehicle dynamics while on the move via Holden’s infotainment system interface.
The brilliant new LPI dual fuel system is brilliant. You can save big dollars by running your supercar on LPG, but whenever you desire you can flick over to petrol. And you are bound to have noticed the striking LED lighting that sets off the magnificent HSV Clubsport R8.
Hot on the heels of the all new superb Holden Sportwagon is the scintillating HSV Clubsport R8 Touring. Glorious to drive, the rumbling V8 is always ready to make a statement. Whether that be pulling away at the lights, passing slower traffic or whisking round curves and over hill crests, this is a machine for the driver who wants the best thrilling driving experience while being able to take the family out on holiday or to the beach.
The wagon design has grown larger for Holden gurus. Just as the sedan has done, the HSV Clubsport R8 Touring is a wagon that has grown a few inches in length and a few mils in width. The striking body work is lighter, tougher and sexier too! The increase in size is noticeable, but not quite as much as it should be, thanks to flat D-posts and a short front overhang both working to minimize the Clubsport R8 Touring’s size. Visually, Holden designers have done a Stirling job of creating a fabulously roomy, hot-looking sporty wagon with bite! The HSV Clubsport R8 Touring has a cargo capacity of an impressive 895 litres with the seats up and 2000 litres with them folded down. A cargo blind slides up the D pillar, allowing easy access to the rear storage area without having to fully release the blind. There are retractable shopping bag hooks, four floor tie-down hooks, a 12 volt power outlet, a four-position luggage net and a low-mounted cargo light.
Under the hood is the impressive mile-muncher of an engine. The 6.2-litre V8 has 325 kW of grunt available at 6000 rpm. Match this to 550 Nm of twist at 4600rpm, and you have one incredible performer. A 0-100 km/h dash can be completed in five seconds flat! On the right piece of road, 250 km/h can be reached in moments.
The new HSV Clubsport R8 Touring offers a broad range of options such as the Holden rear parking sensors, Holden’s impressive music interface, Bluetooth connectivity, an air-conditioned cabin, a powerful premium audio system and some of the nicest leather seats in the business. The centre stack places a navigation screen prominently in a prominent position, and optional leather, aluminum, and wood trim provide for a feeling of quality beyond the HSV Clubsport R8 Touring’s price point.
