More power and some extra gadgetry have been added to the thumping big HSV Maloo R8. Driving is for the pure enthusiast when driving the new HSV Maloo R8 which now has a 6.2-litre V8, 325 kW and 550 Nm of monster torque.
An Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) allows close connection to pretty much all systems onboard the R8. It’s amazing to witness the real time vehicle dynamics while on the move via Holden’s infotainment system interface.
The brilliant new LPI dual fuel system is brilliant. You can save big dollars by running your supercar on LPG, but whenever you desire you can flick over to petrol. And you are bound to have noticed the striking LED lighting that sets off the magnificent HSV Maloo R8.
The desired ute that many hard working blokes dream of owning must be the Holden Maloo. These utes say to onlookers “my driver is a successful and confident businessman”. It doesn’t take long to understand why such a vehicle holds this enviable reputation. Not only are the exterior lines classy and sleek, but the rumble that bellows from under the bonnet as the big V8 growls into action is a dead giveaway that there are many horses harnessed to this carriage. The big 6.2 litre power house is seriously quick! With 325 kW of power the HSV Maloo dominates the long Aussie-outback straights.
Essentially the HSV Maloo is a hotter version of the Commodore-based ute. The body kit, engine, suspension and brakes are all up-rated to handle the collossal performance potoential that the HSV Maloo offers. With stiffer springs and larger-diameter brakes with four-piston calipers front and rear ensures that the Maloo R8 ute remains dynamically quick on the twisty stuff, which is just as well because the Maloo gets off the line quickly enough to reach 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds and then get to the quarter-mile in a time that’s close to the 12-second range! The Maloo’s unique exterior treatment is completed with a sharp looking new nose, sculpted rocker-sill skirts and special alloys. HSV Maloo exterior colours are some of the most startling and exquisite on the road – and who doesn’t enjoy looking at a great paint job.
Inside an HSV Maloo the cabin is superbly put together. The instrument faces are sophisticated and functional, and there is certainly no shortage of goodies on offer. The HSV Maloo offers a trip computer with digital speedo, climate control and a 6.5-inch multifunction screen showing stereo and fan controls, plus Bluetooth phone compatibility.
Not only is the HSV Maloo an attractive and powerful sports car/ute, but it is comfortable and a very practical and capable load carrier. The car comes with wrap around leather seats, which are amazingly comfortable and the seats are adjustable so you can find the most comfortable place for you. The car comes with a hard top for the back load carrying space to keep it dry and clean.
Maloo – an aboriginal word for “storm” or “thunder” . Appropriately named, the HSV Maloo is a great and exciting drive.
