The Korean automaker Hyundai is offering the stylish crossover sports utility vehicle, the Hyundai Tucson, with a choice of two engines. The two engines available at the moment are petrol versions. One of them is a willing 2.0 litre motor and the other is the smooth 2.7 litre V6. The Hyundai Tuscon when equipped with the smaller four-cylinder motor pulls well from the front wheels via a crisp five-speed manual transmission or a silky four-speed automatic transmission. The four cylinder proves a gutsy and responsive performer. However, more power is available with the impressive 2.7-liter V-6 engine. The V6 has a maximum power output of 129 kW at 6000 rpm, and when the revs are kept above 3500 rpm passing slower traffic can be performed crisply. The strong torque figure of 241 Nm at 4000 rpm makes travelling when fully laden a breeze. You will enjoy the added pleasure of driving the bigger motor through a four-speed automatic transmission that is linked up to all four wheels. The AWD capability makes the Hyundai Tucson very sure footed, even in slippery wintery conditions.
Superbly strong, a Hyundai Tucson comes standard with ABS (anti-lock braking system) which avoids wheel lock-up and skidding under extreme braking procedures. ABS helps maintain the stability of the vehicle in an emergency braking procedure. To provide extra protection to the occupants of the car, there are side impact beams with double strength steel beams. The body shell of a Hyundai Tucson is reinforced at the critical points with high tensile strength steel to create a highly rigid safety cage.
In a Hyundai Tucson you will find a number of convenient features. There are driver and passenger door map pockets, a deep glove box, passenger seat side pockets, a floor console with cup holders, and a variety of storage racks. When the rear seats are folded down, cargo space becomes massive. Standard on any Hyundai Tucson are such items like remote control entry, traction control, auxilliary power sockets, and an AM/FM stereo system with the CD player. This sort of standard equipment makes the Hyundai a desirable car that offers a lot of “bang for your buck”. The more lavishly equipped models come standard with a very fine premium stereo system that boasts a six CD changer, leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and a tyre pressure monitor.
