There are some big updates for the 2024 version of Jaguar’s E-Pace. This is an elegant SUV that offers some decent practicality, and it loves to be driven in the fast lane, just as much as the driver wants to drive it.
Let’s start with the way it looks, both on the outside and in. Jaguar’s E-Pace lines are as streamlined as they can be for an upright SUV shape. Slim taillights aid the appearance of being sporty, and the large, flared wheel arches accommodate a big set of tyres that boast an exquisitely elegant pattern. There is, if you were tall enough to see it, a nice large panoramic glass roof. Over the front windshield, the wind flow is kept as smooth and as low as possible, helping to keep the E-Pace nicely aerodynamic and quiet at motorway speeds. The bonnet lines and the associated crimping are pleasing on the eye, while the chunky SUV’s nose is kept as trim and aerodynamic as is aptly functional for the upright body style. You’ll notice the freshly styled bumper and grille design, which is even more rounded in subtlety, perfectly matching the streamlined headlight design.
There are a range of beautiful exterior metallic paint colours to choose from, with, perhaps, the Firenz Red, the Portofino Blue, and the Santorini Black metallics being the most vibrant. The more subtle greys and whites glow brightly, even on dull days. A new set of patterns for the 19-inch alloys look very nice.
Enter the 2024 Jaguar E-PACE cabin, and the doors close with a nice thud, shutting the hustle and noise of the city streets well away from the cabin’s serenity and comfort. I enjoy the simplicity and elegance of Jaguar’s design team, and how they manage to consistently blend the two with ease and aplomb.
Seating comfort and space is excellent for the mid-size E-PACE SUV, where even five tall adults should find life pretty good. Though not the largest boot in the class, the E-PACE still has good cargo space (577 litres) and is square and deep, making it easier than you might think to take lots of gear along with you for the weekend away. The interior materials have a high quality and fitment, aiding the sense of the E-PACE being a premium SUV, as it should be and needs to be. Fitted with an upgraded fixed panoramic glass roof, the new E-Pace is an SUV with a light and lovely cabin ambience. Drivers will also like the heated steering wheel upgrade.
There are also lots of cabin storage spaces and good port connections for tech equipment. Wireless smartphone connection and charging are standard in the front console space. Jaguar has also upgraded the Pivi Pro infotainment interface, so it works extremely well. The 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster has also been revamped and tweaked for a better package and more engaging experience, and it offers fantastic graphics. If you are a lover of music, then both the SE and HSE come standard with an impressive 400W Meridian system with 11 speakers and a subwoofer. Nice!
The 2024 E-PACE models (SE and HSE) haven’t been ANCAP tested yet, but the previous version gained a full five-star result. Standard features for the 2024 E-PACE SUV include things like emergency braking, blind spot assist, a rear camera, adaptive cruise control, a driver condition monitoring system, lane keep assist, front and rear parking aids, rear collision monitoring, rear traffic monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and an adaptive speed limiter. So I imagine it’ll get a good rating from ANCAP.
Both the SE and HSE versions of the new E-PACE get a 2.5-litre AWD powertrain, and performance feels brisk. You can get yourself from a standstill to 100 km/h in around 7.5 seconds. Jaguar say that this P250 motor has the oomph to run right out to 229 km/h. The car feels very secure at speed, and corners very nicely indeed.
The 2024 Jaguar E-Pace sits amongst a range of other premium mid-size SUV alternatives from around the globe. I’d hazard a guess that Jaguar interest may gain traction thanks to their recent success in Formula E.
