I’m a bit of a fan of the new 2010 Lexus GS 460. The power of a quad cam 4.6-litre V8 gives you instant response, and the world’s first 8-speed transmission in a mid sized luxury car makes the GS 460 a little bit special and effortless to drive.
There are a number of neat features worth pointing out. The active cruise control is capable of scanning the road ahead for safety, while after dark High Intensity Discharge (HID) front headlamps angle around corners to provide optimum vision at night.
VDIM is a handling dynamics control package that really is leading edge stuff. This combined with Traction Control makes the big GS 460 sedan very well planted and in control.
Hop inside, and Lexus luxury greets you. Glare free instrumentation works so well at keeping the information visible at all times – even in bright sunlight or pitch black the Electro–Chromatic Device (ECD) system installed in the meter glass of the dash controls sunlight reflection by day and enhances the readout visibility at night. Classy metallic furnishings on the switch gear and dash faces provide a modern look packed with style. The steering wheel incorporates controls for the audio, cruise control, phone, Multi Information Display and speech commands. You may think that a climate controlled cabin is pretty cool, but Lexus haven’t stopped there. They have provided the latest GS 460 with climate controlled seats with a memory! A fourteen-speaker audio system makes awesome sound, while the system has USB, iPod and EMV (Electro Multi Vision) touch screen functions. You will enjoy the Bluetooth communications, satellite navigation, a park assist monitor with rear view camera and a very cool powered rear sunshade.
Ever thought which car might boast the sweetest automotive design? Somewhere near the top must sit the beautiful Lexus GS460. The Lexus GS460 has a four door sedan body that is super smooth and stylish. The perfect blend of elegance and aggression gives the sporty Lexus an intimidating presence on the road.
The 2009 Lexus GS 460 has a 4.6 litre V8 capable of an impressive 255 kW. In conjunction with this, the Lexus GS460 has a magnificently smooth and efficient eight-speed automatic transmission. While the 460 lacks the all-wheel-drive option offered on the V6-powered GS 350, this more powerful sedan does get a few exclusives, including an adaptive suspension and an optional active stabilizer system, both of which combine to add a whole new dimension of startling performance and impeccable road handling from a rear wheel driver. On the road, the car has impressive control and agility. The eight-speed automatic transmission, with manual shift control, channels power to the rear wheels. The way the transmission can keep the superlative 460 Nm of maximum torque up to the demanding driver is nothing short of sensational. Acceleration is always brisk. The Lexus GS 460 achieves 0-100km/h, from a standstill, in only 5.4 seconds. Fuel economy is above average in a car of this class.
The elegant midsize luxury sedan is available with a luxurious interior trim. Standard features in the Lexus GS460 include fat 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive HID headlights, a sunroof, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated 10-way power front seats and a 10-speaker audio system with a six-CD/MP3 changer, an auxiliary audio jack and a cassette player. Factory options for the Lexus GS 460 include satellite radio, rear park assist, rain-sensing wipers, a rear sunshade, the active power stabilizer suspension system, adaptive cruise control, a rear spoiler, and a sensational 14-speaker Mark Levinson DVD surround-sound system with navigation and a rear-view camera.
Whether one is commuting leisurely or pushing the limits of performance, the Lexus GS460 cabin remains silent. The grunty V8, and the world outside, are kept from protruding into the lavish cabin atmosphere.
Speaking of the interior, flawless assembly and quality materials are on the cards for the lucky Lexus GS-460 owner. Genuine wood and aluminium trim add a voluptuous flavour to the cabin.
In keeping with Lexus’ fine reputation for safety, the GS 460 includes antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front- and rear-seat side airbags, driver and front-passenger knee airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. A pre-collision system is integrated into the adaptive cruise control option, which uses radar to detect an impending collision. This will pre-tension the seatbelts and activate brake assist if it thinks a crash is imminent. In crash testing, the Lexus GS 460 received the highest rating for both frontal-offset and side-impact collisions.
