My son asked me the other day who manufactured the new Mini cars, and he sounded very surprised when I said that BMW design and build them. So it goes to show you that there are still numerous folk who may not know BMW’s hand in new Mini cars.
The all new Mini One is the latest creation to roll onto the showroom floors, and as there is no other car that looks quite like a new Mini, the Mini One will always have a head start for turning heads with its crisp, lively design. One of the new exterior details that makes the Mini One a little more unique is the redesigned headlights that are now enclosed in a chrome ring – harking back to the first Minis that came into production under British Leyland. Also, the tail lights are larger than previous Mini models, and they have a shape resembling that of a rectangle with rounded corners.
A lovely cabin makes the Mini One a treat to drive, and you’ll just love showing it off to all your friends. I’m adoring the circular dials, knobs and instrumentation incorporated into the sweet dash design. It’s a blend that really captures the imagination. The new Mini One has loads of personality and character, and I guess that’s why one buys one. It shows that you love something a little different and even more special! The new modern Mini graphics for the interior instrumentation is a class act.
Seating space is surprisingly apt at accommodating the larger-size adult, even in the back. Three across the back seat will be tight but not impossible for the school run, though two adults in the back seat provides better room than if there were three adults.
Mod cons are aplenty in the Mini One, and nice audio and communication links get my big stamp of approval. Bluetooth hands free and USB linkage for the best sounds are standard Mini One features.
So what’s gonna get you a ticket? Under the hood is a newly developed 1.2 litre Turbo engine. It runs on petrol and boasts three cylinders. On average this little gem will only require that you feed its thirst for fuel at a rate of around five litres/100 km. The Mini One, therefore, comes without the added baggage of needing to attend Alchoholics Anomynous for its addiction to drinking. Actually, if you’ve got a lot of highway work in your journey to work, the Mini One’s like for fuel can be as small as 4.2 litres/100 km if you opt for the manual gearbox. The auto option averages 4.5 litres/100 km. That makes for pretty impressive fuel economy reading. But what might get you the twinkling lights and a special piece of paper is the Mini One’s ability to scoot along at well above legal limits. If you allow its seductive acceleration and nippiness to get the better of you, the Mini One can show a clean set of heels. Manual versions of the Mini One can run under ten seconds to make it to 100 km/h from a standstill. However, it won’t stop there. If you allow the Mini One full rein, then a top speed of 195 km/h can be reached. Mini One’s fresh styling, performance and fun make for a great drive. The fizzy nature of the engine, the low down seating and centre of gravity, and the small Mini One dimensions mean that you’re going to love the way this little nut handles. Cornering is loads of fun!
All you’ve got to do now is head on down and treat yourself to a drive-and-buy experience with the all-new, Mini One. It’s got all the goodies that will make you smile.
