With a design blueprint as good as the latest Mitsubishi Lancer, it’s hard to see how Mitsubishi can better the midsize machine. Already the new Lancer has lines that appeal; a cabin that is Smart, well equipped and comfortable; and a chassis and engine that respond fluently to the driver’s demands.
Eight vivid exterior colours are available for the Lancer Sportback and Sedan variants. Suave cloth material (offered in two patterns depending on the model) covers the comfortable seats. The new Mitsubishi Lancer has a pleasant interior that boasts a simplistic and Smart dash layout. You’ll enjoy the very user-friendly dials and switchgear. Crystal clear white on black numbers provide a clear indication on your velocity and engine speed. A soft blue lighting gently lights up the speedometer and rev counter surrounds. A communications and media system has a screen display in the centre of the dash. Audio system controls are also available for the driver on the steering wheel. Cruise control is a feature you’ll like, and electric windows, air-conditioning and cup-holders are all standard features.
Engines offered to the buyer are a 2.0-litre 113 kW petrol, a 2.4-litre 125 kW petrol, a low output turbo-powered 2.0-litre 177 kW petrol, and a high output turbo-powered 217 kW motor housed under the Evolution models. Unless you really need the crazy speeds offered by the Lancer Evolution, you’ll be very well satisfied with the punchy Ralliart models – capable of performing the 0-100 km/h dash in a mere 6.2 seconds. If you love to drive quickly, the Lancer Ralliart is substantially cheaper than the Evolution models, as well.
The stylish Mitsubishi Lancer is sometimes, in my book, a very underrated machine that offers everything to the mid-sized car buyer. I’ll sing its praises, though. And I’ll suggest that the Lancer is a highly recommended buy. The only thing I would look forward to finding in Lancer range in the near future is a diesel option.
One hot ride – that’s what the Mitsubishi Lancer could be best described as boasting.
With a 2.0 litre 113 kW MIVEC petrol engine with either a five-speed manual transmission, a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) or a six-speed automatic, the Mitsubishi Lancer gives you the latest driving technology packed into a very affordable small car. The 0-100 km/h time can be performed in around ten seconds, which is quite respectable in a well engineered and reliable car designed to carry four adults in comfort. Mitsubishi has long made engines that are amongst the most reliable in the world, particularly in the under 2-litre bracket. You know when you buy a new Mitsubishi that the years ahead will be hassle free motoring.
Step into the VRX, and you have yourself a sparkling 125 kW engine with 226Nm of torque available to the right foot. Smooth acceleration and a quiet, nimble ride make the Lancer VRX a joy to drive for any length of time. There is the Lancer Ralliart model for those of you who love life in the fast lane! The Ralliart Lancer isn’t that much slower than the insane Lancer Evo.
At first glance, the styling looks sporty and tough, and the elegant lines are nothing short of eye catching. Mitsubishi designed the Lancer with an aggressive look that starts at the recessed front headlamps and finishes at the sporty rear spoiler. Everywhere you go in the stylish Lancer, you are sure to turn heads.
The interior of the Mitsubishi Lancer will turn your head as much as the exterior design will. From the comfortable and fully adjustable seating for 4 adults, to the 7 inch colour LCD touch screen that contains 30GB of hard-drive storage space complete with sat-navigation, you could be the proud owner of all this fantastic style sitting on four sensational wheels! You can connect audio or video iPods and other devices into auxillary jack points inside the Lancer’s cabin. Technologically advanced, you can fill the Lancer’s cabin with the latest gadgetry, if you so desire. The onboard computer can be made to display trip data and the status of your Bluetooth hands-free phone. A premium audio system can be enjoyed by all. The audio system comes in different configurations – the most powerful putting out a whopping 650 watts through nine speakers and a sub-woofer. You can even add Sirius satellite radio, too!
In this day and age, safety counts for so much! The Mitsubishi Lancer has safety that provides ABS brakes and one of the most integrated and well designed airbag systems on the road today. In the event of a crash, you are virtually surrounded by airbags to cushion all the occupants inside the cabin, both front and rear.
Combine all these superb features, and include the fact the Mitsubishi Lancer is a road hugging fun vehicle to drive, and you have a big winner. Wouldn’t you look great sitting behind the wheel of a new Lancer today? A sedan and sporthatch are offered.
