Like style in smaller packages? This little “Pug” might be the one for you. Alway’s head turning, Peugeots have that little bit of extra flair other cars don’t always incorporate into their designs.
The Peugeot 307 has sleek, swift styling, with lines that swoop over a high waistline. The Peugeot 307 exterior has some very Smart front headlamps, integrated fog lamps and stylish 17 inch alloy wheels.
The interior can be described as having carried the outside beauty on into the cabin. It boasts exceptional styling, from a leather wrapped steering, to the smooth fascia layout, to the gorgeous seats that are designed to be sat in and not just upon. You will be pampered in this “Pug”. The in-dash mounted CD player makes those long journeys pass away peacefully, and the air-conditioned glove box/cooler holds any items you want kept cool for refreshment stops. But wait, there’s more! There are fold down armrests that provide storage, plus storage compartments in pull-out drawers underneath the seats – real handy for first aid kits, medicinal items and babies’ needs. There is of course, speed limited cruise control, electric windows, electric folding side mirrors, a heat reflective windscreen and even an odor reducing charcoal filter system. Loaded, the Peugeot 307 impresses with in-cabin luxury comforts. These are but a few of the interior features that keep the Peugeot 307 at the head of the pack. If you like the open air, there are the glamorous cabriolet models available.
The Peugeot 307 comes which a choice of engines: 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesel engines are available. Both have economy figures of around 5 litres/ 100 km. The 320 Nm of torque available to the 2.0 litre is impressive, and makes it a relaxing and powerful drive. The other engine in the closed-top 307 line-up is the 2.0 litre petrol powerplant that is a superb drive. When in 5-speed manual form, the 0-100 km/h dash can be performed comfortably in under ten seconds. A wide range of gearbox options are available. Perhaps the six-speed auto in the 2.0 litre diesel option offers the most relaxed drive. In the cabriolet versions, you have a 103 kW and 130 kW motor to choose from. The metal roof will fool most people when it comes time to lower it, and catch some sunshine hours.
When the Peugeot 307 can be bought for a little over $30,000, you have to admit that it is pretty good value for money. Inexpensive, yes, but safety doesn’t cut any corners. With airbags in both the front and rear, everyone is well covered. The French always perform highly in crash testing results. There are Anti-lock brakes, an engine immobilizer and even a security coded entertainment system!
