The 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has similar features to a normal Cayenne SUV except that it has a more pronounced slope to the rear-end of it. The sportier looks definitely are pleasing, and make the Cayenne look less overweight. Under the hood is a range of powerful engines that combine with AWD to make this a really swift motorway marauder.
So it looks good, but what about the practicality? Well, yes there has been some luggage space reduced with the artful Coupe roofline, however it still remains a practical SUV. Rear seats have been mounted 30 mm lower to cope with the sloping roofline. This was done to ensure that the head room was still good. When considering the new Cayenne Coupe’s boot space at 625 litres with the rear seats in place, well there shouldn’t be any complaints really. Just remember an average family car won’t be able to accommodate that amount – not even come close.
Out on the road there are all the hallmarks of what make Porsche cars so satisfying. The handling, the power and the speed are all there, and with two monstrous petrol engines leading the charge the Porsche Cayenne Coupe gains velocity very quickly. A 3.0-litre V6 or 4.0-litre V8 do the damage, both packing way more than enough passing power out and about on the open road. The 4.0-litre V8 is capable of dispatching a 0-100km/h sprint in around 4 seconds. The top speed for the V8 is north of 280 km/h – on the right piece of road, of course. Both are pretty thirsty, however, so don’t expect much sympathy from the greenies!
With an area of 2 m2, the glass sunroofs are superb in the Cayenne Coupe models. The extra light makes the cabin feel nice, fresh and roomy. Speaking of room, those in the rear get reasonable room all-round, particularly with the models that have two luxury reclining seats. Front seat passengers have plenty of space, and the seats in either row are beautifully crafted and very comfortable. You can opt for a carbon fibre roof which looks really cool, but this will set you back a more than just a few pounds.
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe is one of the best looking Porsches in my mind. All the aerodynamic kit works superbly well but it also looks very cool too. Coupe models get an electronic boot spoiler that automatically lifts up once 90 km/h has been reached. Large wheel arch flares, a more raked front windshield and big alloys add to the much more appealing sporty lines.
Sit yourself down in one of these and the sporty overtones are really nice with the figure hugging seats, beautiful steering wheel and quality interior materials. Interior design is absolutely impeccable and Porsche have ensured that it remains right up there with the best luxury SUVs on the market. Porsche have lifted their game when it comes to styling flair as well, and this is nice because Porsche’s Cayenne dash fascia look nice and attractive on the eye, well-proportioned and interesting. It looks almost the same as what the more conventional new Cayenne SUVs have inside their cabins but a little racier. A good infotainment system keeps you in touch with communications, music and navigation, along with many other excellent luxury features. The touchscreen is large and intuitive.
There are a range of expensive options that you can add to your new Cayenne Coupe, in much the same way as you can with the standard Cayenne SUV. Options like beefed up ceramic brakes, active chassis control and rear-wheel steering are some of the goodies on offer that you’ll have to pay more for over the standard version.
When it comes to one of the sportiest SUVs, this has to be one of the top picks that would come to mind. Looks alone set this gorgeous SUV Coupe apart, and in my mind it is much better proportioned than its conventional stable mate.
