The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) unit is your central control unit for audio, navigation and communication. Online navigation, mobile-phone preparation, audio interfaces and voice operation are easy-to-use functions that are accessed via the big high-resolution 12-inch touchscreen display. One of the best, the PCM is simple to control. Four-zone climate control, a CD/DVD drive, SD cards, an internal 10GB hard drive (Jukebox), Aux input or USB connection for your iPod/iPhone are all standard and brilliantly effective.
If you sit in the rear of the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, the seats are magnificently comfortable. There are two seats at the rear fit for two large adults. Greeted with a cinematic experience, the second row is a very nice place to journey in. Porsche equips the Panamera with a rear seat entertainment system that offers a fully integrated and networked infotainment system that connects to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system at the front via WLAN to provide access to the radio, media, navigation system and vehicle functions of the Panamera. Two separate 10-inch touchscreen displays on the front seat backrests, an internal 32-GB memory, micro SD card slot, micro USB interface, Bluetooth and NFC (near field communication) are all at the fingertips of the rear seat passenger. A BOSE surround sound system comes as standard, while you can opt for the very special and unique Burmester High- End 3D Surround Sound System with 21 individually controlled loudspeakers totalling a massive 1455 W output.
There are some pretty cool driver aids which include: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Porsche InnoDrive, Lane Change Assist with Turn Assist, Lane Keeping Assist including traffic sign recognition and cornering notification and Park Assist. However, the driver will be enjoying a drive that is superbly involved and satisfying. The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid handles like it’s on rails, and the acceleration and performance is breath-taking.
In well under five seconds the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can deal to the 0-100 km/h dash via a fast shifting 8-speed PDK gearbox, while the long open autobahns can see the Panamera hybrid tickling 280 km/h with ease. The performance is thanks to a 243 kW gasoline engine linking with an electric motor packing 100 kW. The combination equates to a combined maximum power output of 340 kW. Incredibly, the sports car performance is at no real cost at the pump. Porsche rate the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is capable of a fuel consumption of just 2.5 litres/100 km under certain conditions.
As a Porsche sports car plug-in hybrid, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid always starts in purely electric mode and drives without generating any local emissions within a range of 50 kilometres and a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Delivering a maximum system torque of 700 Nm, you really feel the punch behind the instant acceleration. The huge torque is transferred to all four wheels and the standard three-chamber air suspension ensures an optimum balance between comfort and dynamism at all times. This is a truly awesome luxury sports car/GT.
