MPVs are a very popular choice among families and people-moving businesses. Currently one of the best in the MPV class is the sleek and stylish Toyota Tarago. The Tarago proudly leads the way.
There is loads of room to be found inside, and the vehicle has been designed to pamper its occupants with supreme levels of comfort. The seating is supportive, roomy and relaxing. Second row occupants will find their seats slide back for increased legroom, and they also boast retractable centre armrests that are made complete with cupholders. Step aboard the GLX or Ultima versions, and you and your mates will ride in the very voluptuous ‘Captains chairs’. These awesomely luxurious seats are fully adjustable with integrated ottomans which also slide for increased legroom. If the weather proves to be exceedingly cold outside, then the ultimate remedy inside the Ultimate version, for the front seat occupants, are the super luxuriously crafted heated front seats. In the Tarago V6 models the third row of seats neatly fold down into an underfloor recess to create a perfectly flat cargo area for easy loading and added luggage capacity. The Tarago Ultima has an incredible feature that lets you stow the third row of seats away at the touch of a button. Call it lazy. Call it what you want. But I love it! The interior boasts a moon roof in the front and rear sections, AVN satellite navigation – with Bluetooth compatibility, a hands free compatible audio system, air conditioning with a rear cooler, power steering, power locks, electric windows and mirrors, cruise control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and auto-on headlamps. Long trips have never looked friendlier, and, without a doubt, all occupants, young and old, will enjoy travelling in the new Toyota Tarago versions.
The Toyota Tarago is very well mannered on the road, and its decent dynamics make the big van a capable performer. The suspension is taut and well balanced, which makes the V6 models all the more powerful and fun drive. The big brakes haul the MPV in with ease, making it superbly safe on the road. Anti-skid brakes with Electronic Brake Force distribution, Traction Control, driver and passenger front and side SRS airbags, and second row side curtain airbags all add up to make the Tarago a class leader. Built around a unique Safe-T-Cell, the Toyota Tarago gives its occupants the protection they deserve. The Safe-T-Cell design is an energy absorbing structure that is designed to help reduce impact damage inside the cabin structure in the event of a nasty accident. Designed, tested, and manufactured to meet Toyota’s stringent Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) guidelines, the Tarago incorporates Head Impact Protection (HIP), side door anti-intrusion beams, reinforced beams in the floor and roof, front crumple zones and a collapsible steering column. The Tarago even includes a host of frontal pedestrian protection features.
Two engine plants are available. The 4-cylinder 2.4 litre engine has 125 kW of power and a very helpful 224 Nm of torque. You will enjoy responsive, fuel efficient performance. Fire up the V6 3.5 litre engine, and there is a marked power increase. The smooth 202 kW engine pulls with plenty of strength, and the huge 340 Nm of torque deals to very heavy loads with ease. The V6 is, in fact, the most powerful MPV in its class. The big motor has a creamy six speed transmission that is so quiet and smooth. This helps keep the large cabin lovely and quiet for travelling in.
If you need the ultimate family mover, or just the ability to carry large numbers of passengers, you must take a moment and check out the fantastic Toyota Tarago.
