2020 Volvo V60s are the latest wagons from the hugely successful Volvo brand. Since Volvo’s combining with Geely in China, Volvo has leapt forwards with much larger market gains. Exciting new designs, leading-edge technologies, and gorgeous luxury are all part of what makes a modern Volvo very special.
Yes, safety continues to be a strong feature of 2020 Volvo cars. The new V60 uses the SPA platform which has resulted in the strongest Volvo cars to date. Their extensive uses of boron steel, as well as numerous safety systems, are designed to protect people inside and outside the car.
Volvo’s City Safety technology is standard on all Volvo models; this means that the 2020 Volvo V60 combines premium features like automatic braking and collision avoidance systems. Volvo’s City Safety technology is the only system on the market that will detect pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. Though I might be a little alarmed at seeing a croc or two wandering about town! The new V60 wagon also boasts the Pilot Assist driver assistance system which works up to 130 km/h on clearly marked roads.
The brand new Volvo V60 is powered by Volvo’s Drive-E powertrains. Apart from petrol and diesel variants, the V60 is also available with two plug-in hybrid options: the new T6 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid that generates a combined 340hp or the T8 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in that delivers 390hp.Volvo’s Twin Engine plug-in hybrid delivers all the benefits of a high performance, low emission petrol engine with an electric motor that delivers power on demand with ultralow CO2 emissions and more than 40 km of pure electric range.
To be specific, Volvo has plenty of engine variants to choose from, and these are the: V60 petrol T4 (140 kW) auto, V60 petrol T5 (184 kW) auto, V60 T5 AWD (184 kW) auto, V60 petrol T6 AWD auto (228 kW), V60 T6 TwEn (250 kW) auto, V60 T8 TwEn (286 kW) auto, V60 Polestar Engineered (298 kW) auto, the V60 diesel D3 (110 kW) man/auto, V60 diesel D3 AWD (110 kW) auto, the V60 diesel D4 (140 kW) man/auto and the V60 diesel D4 AWD (140 kW) auto as the drivetrain options. Not a bad list eh? Even the diesels are capable of over 200 km/h and can run through the 0-100 km/h in less than 10 seconds. Of course exceptional fuel economy is also a desirable characteristic of any of the new Volvo engines.
T6 models can really scamper when you want to, making this the more common ‘Avante’ model of the bunch. A 0-100 km/h sprint time of less than six seconds can’t be sneezed at, and on the right track it will easily hit 250 km/h. But, even the T5 is no slouch. Step up to the T6 and it’s equally fast, but the T8 versions and the T8 Polestar can go below five seconds for the same dash, and these are really exciting cars to drive.
Stricter emission regulations have seen all European cars have to meet these standards, so any Volvo model boasts low carbon emissions, but even more so the hybrids.
Beautiful modern Volvo interior design is breath-taking, and many leading journalists considering Volvo as the benchmark in interior design, beauty and comfort. All new Volvos are new-technology connected, thanks to Volvo’s Sensus systems leading the way. Boasting a big, modern HD touchscreen at the centre of the dash, you can stay informed with car functions that include: navigation, web connected services and in-car entertainment applications such as Spotify, Pandora, Baidu or TuneIn. The portrait-oriented touch screen is easy to use and offers fast access to a host of functions and features. Just like in the Volvo 90 series of cars, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard.
Volvo’s V60 carries the elegant new breed of Volvo design language which features the “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlight design and the stunning new Volvo grille. The 2020 Volvo V60 is one of the premium estates on the market that does what it says on the package: the ability to cater to families with a range of needs and expectations in the modern world.
The 2020 Volvo V60 models include the:
