2024 Mercedes Benz C-Class Sedan

2024 Mercedes Benz C-Class Sedan

Five models of the 2024 Mercedes Benz C-Class Sedan are available at the time of writing.  The model range is spread widely to cater to customers’ tastes and requirements, so there should be a C-Class Sedan just for you.  If the C-Class doesn’t quite have the space, then a new E-Class or even S-Class sedan might suit better.  In fact, Mercedes Benz has SUVs, EVs and Coupes, along with some models being AMG versions with performance that will leave you breathless. Anyway, this review will help you find out if the C-Class sedan is the Merc for you.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan has had a modern facelift, and it is most noticeable in the way the headlights have been streamlined horizontally, giving the front of the C-Class an appearance of sophistication and athleticism.  The previous model looked good, but I thought the headlights looked a little cumbersome at some angles.  The new C-Class sedan looks balanced, can accommodate up to five occupants, and boasts a full 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

You can have the 2024 C-Class with a petrol or plug in hybrid engine, and the fuel economy ranges from 6.1 litres/100 km to 9.1 litres/100 km, depending on the model of choice.  Boot space is 455 litres and is a void that can swallow an honest amount of luggage for the weekend away.  All new Mercedes Benz C-Class Sedans come with a 5 year/unlimited km warranty and 5 years of roadside assistance, which is great for peace of mind motoring.

C200 and C200 Night Edition

Mercedes Benz kick things off with two very nice C-Class Sedans called the C200 and C200 Night Edition.  Both models have the same underpinnings and the same engine that provides a maximum of 150 kW of power and a peak torque figure of 300 Nm.  The four-cylinder petrol 1.5-litre engine has turbo power and has mild hybrid technology, feeding power out to the rear wheels via a silky 9-speed automatic gearbox.  The engine always feels lively and flexible, remaining remarkably fuel efficient.

So what’s the difference?  The C200 Night Edition differentiates itself with its Night Package – a package that incorporates some stunning high-gloss black exterior design elements.  You’ll note things like the black radiator louvre, the AMG-style front and rear aprons/bumpers, a black beltline strip, a black window surround, and black wing mirror casings.  The C200 Night Edition also sits on 19-inch alloys, whereas the standard C-Class alloys measure 18 inches.  You’ll also notice that the Night Edition has rear privacy glass.

Both of these stylish C-Class models are premium high-end vehicles that are competing against equivalent luxury models from Audi, BMW, and Lexus.  A 2024 C-Class Sedan is a really special car to travel in, and these two base models (if you can call them that) come with heated front seats that are power-adjustable and have a memory function.  You will enjoy the dual-zone climate control, the pleasant ambient interior lighting, an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a heads-up display, and a superb 710-watt 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system that sounds that much better with the car’s acoustic insulated glass being a standard feature as well.

C300

The C300 Sedan offers all the niceties of the C200 Sedan but comes with an impressive 2.0-litre turbo 4-cylinder petrol motor that provides enhanced performance in the form of 190 kW of power and as much as 400 Nm of torque.  This is enough to send the C300 C-Class sedan from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds, while the limited top speed of 250 km/h should suffice.

Both the C200 and C300 ride and handle like a good Merc should; thus, the ride has a decent compromise between being firm enough for spirited driving excursions as well a being soft enough to soak up the bumps in the road.

C-Class AMG

Two of the 2024 Mercedes Benz C-Class sedans come with the very desirable AMG lettering.  These, of course, are the performance models.  Boasting a high-performance 2.0-litre turbo motor, the C43 AMG has 300 kW of power and up to 500 Nm of torque.  The car’s top speed has been limited to 250 km/h but unleash the engine’s full credentials and you’ll see the 0–100 km/h sprint completed in 4.6 seconds.

Power with a twist comes in the form of the other AMG version, the C63 AMG S E Performance Sedan.  This model is the most expensive but has scintillating power, thanks to a clever hybrid system working in tandem with the 2.0-litre turbo motor to offer up to 350 kW and 545 Nm.  A 3.4 second 0–100 km/h sprint time says enough!

Both 2024 AMG C-Class Sedans are four-wheel-drive and use a sport-shifting 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The year 2024 definitely looks bright in the automotive world, especially when there are cars as classy and as fun to drive as the new C-Class Sedan.  This new range of mid-size luxury/performance sedans accommodate five people in comfort, are loaded with seriously good technology, can do ordinary commuting with ease, and still offer the spark that makes driving so exciting.
