Taking the long way home is a favourite route of mine on most holiday journeys.  If you’ve got the time, then why not see a little more of the countryside.  This is the sort of way I like to think.  Your special other half mightn’t always think the same way and, as is often the case, I find myself having to stick with the shortest route back home.  But every now and then I get the chance to head off and explore some of the more interesting back roads, and its times like this that having a vehicle like the new Nissan X-Trail 4WD make these excursions a dream come true.

Plenty of X-Trail model options are available, and you can choose between 2WD and 4WD.  Two petrol engines are available.  The smaller 106kW/200Nm 2.0-litre engine is willing and efficient.  This is available for the ST two-wheel-drive model only, and has the only six-speed manual gearbox option available.  All other models come equipped with the bigger 2.5-litre, 126kW/226Nm 2.5 litre engine that is linked to Nissan’s smooth and competent XTronic CVT automatic.

Nissan X-Trail boasts some great value for money safety equipment.  A Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Moving Object Detection on the Ti grade, and the Around View Monitor on the ST-L and Ti grades, ensures that your new Nissan X-Trail will be checking your environment around the vehicle – probably quicker than you can say BOO!  All X-Trail models come with six airbags, a rear view camera, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), a Traction Control System (TCS), an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Advanced Drive Assist Display.
