Love your SUV? How about updating it with the stylish new Peugeot 5008? This is the biggest SUV from Peugeot, so there is plenty of room for the big trip away. Bold lines and all the latest technology does make this a highly desirable large SUV alternative.
Toned lines give the large 5008 SUV an athletic look that is backed up by a capable chassis that holds its own for spirited driving. Owning a Peugeot means you own a vehicle with a styling edge. Peugeot designers have enjoyed creating a large SUV design that is characterised by its raised ground clearance, a long horizontal bonnet, bold vertical chrome radiator grille and pronounced wheel arches which not only makes a big design statement but offers the driver of the new 5008 great road presence.
Safety and Peugeot go hand-in-hand, and so every 5008 model boasts driver and front passenger airbags, front side airbags, full length curtain airbags, ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), speed limit recognition and recommendation, a distance alert system, advanced driver attention alert, lane departure warning, active lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control with stop function, active safety brake (with pedestrian detection), active blind spot detection, PEUGEOT smart beam assistance, electric child locking functionality on rear windows and doors, ice warning, isofix child seat fittings on outer rear seats, seatbelt unfastened on the move audible and visual alert for front and rear seats, self-levelling headlamps, and an automatic locking doors and boot mechanism (activated by vehicle moving).
The 2018 Peugeot 5008 SUVs have three models on offer that are characterised by a spacious interior that provides all the comfort and storage needed by the driver and passengers. Seven seats make this a family wagon of choice, and this level of comfort is combined with a boot offering a high-volume luggage space empowering big family get-aways. The fold-down rear seats guarantee optimum flexibility for all types of journeys and activities.
With seven individual seats, the all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV can be configured in a way to perfectly meet your needs. Intelligent features including removable seats in row 3 and a flat folding front passenger seat help to increase practicality even more. Rear occupants in the second row enjoy sliding seats and incline adjustment – and their comfort is enhanced even further with rear seat back tray tables and window blinds.
Right from the start the driver enjoys a spacious cockpit that adapts easily to their individual shape and size. The raised driving position offers a fantastic view of the road ahead – not to mention vehicles ahead – and the seats are great for long-day tours. Ride quality for the new Peugeot 5008 is outstanding, the chassis more than capable of soaking up the toughest of road undulations as they arise. You feel safe and in control with the 5008 having a big paw print on the road, and there is a full array of dynamic driving aids for when the road conditions are less than ideal. Peugeots are driven to be enjoyed, and the 5008 provides fabulous grip and brakes for spirited drivers. From the driver’s seat you’ll enjoy a supportive seat from where you’ll appreciate Peugeot driving qualities like the compact steering wheel, a head-up display and a touch-screen, responsive performance and excellent safety features.
Under the hood of the big seven-seater 5008 is a choice of two engines primed for performance and focused on efficiency. The PureTech petrol and BlueHDi diesel engines offer low CO2 emissions. The THP (which in English means High Pressure Turbo) petrol motor is available for the Allure and GT Line. Rated at 121 kW and put through a six-speed auto the progress is smooth, punchy and refined. The THP model whisks the big 5008 up to 100 km/h from a standstill in 10.5 seconds. Top of the range Peugeot 5008 GT models get the powerful 133 kW HDi turbo-diesel engine that is a real gem. Both efficiency and performance is class leading. Torque is creamy and well suited for relaxed, powerful cruising. Just a smidgeon quicker through the 0-100 sprint test, it’s also got the slightly higher top speed of 208 km/h if that means a lot to you. In the Peugeot 5008 GT, with the HDi engine, it’s possible to cruise the highway with a fuel economy below 5 litres/100 km – excellent!
Equipment levels are high as the 5008 is the Peugeot SUV flagship, so even in the Allure model you’ll enjoy things like: 121 kW THP engine, six-speed automatic, 18-inch alloy wheels, a Peugeot i-Cockpit 8-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital head up instrument panel, a nice compact Peugeot leather-trimmed steering wheel, a MirrorScreen System (MirrorLink®, Android Auto® & Apple Carplay®), active safety brake (including pedestrian detection), adaptive cruise control with stop function, PEUGEOT smart beam assist, active blind spot detection, active lane keeping assistance, advanced driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition / intelligent speed adaptation, a hands-free electric tailgate, FWD Grip Control, a wireless induction charging plate for compatible smartphones, 3D navigation with vocal recognition, DAB radio, keyless entry and start, a 360 degree vision reversing camera and front camera, city park (parallel and 90° parking assistance), 3 individual sliding row 2 seats, 2 fold-flat seats in row 3, and sun blinds on row 2 windows.
Want a bit more, then the new Peugeot 5008 GT Line SUV provides everything that the Allure has but with features like: full LED headlamps, PEUGEOT i-Cockpit Amplify, a ‘Diamond Black’ roof, Nera black door mirror shells, a sports front bumper and grille, and an optional Premium Pack. This Premium Pack has nappa leather trim, panoramic opening glass sunroof, heated front seats, driver seat 8-way electric adjustment, driver seat 2 position memory function, driver seat multi-point massage function, and a front seat adjustable cushion nose.
A prospective Peugeot purchaser might like to cast their eyes over the top of the range GT which has a beauty reserved for the better things in life. With 133kW, the BlueHDi turbo diesel engine is beautifully smooth and efficient. Sitting on 19-inch alloy wheels you’re really looking the part. Alcantara door and dashboard inserts, an electrically adjustable driver seat with 2 position memory, heated front seats, a driver seat massage function, chrome door mirror shells, wheel arch extentions (nice addition), the optional Premium Pack (nappa leather trim, panoramic opening glass sunroof), and an optional Grip Control (comes with 18-inch Los Angeles alloy wheels with Mud & Snow tyre).
Perhaps the only downer I can see is that there is no AWD 5008 SUV in the mix, not even in combination with the HDi engine. AWD would make this a genuine off-roader capable of at least simple off-roading tasks. Still, the big SUV package is very nice and each model comes with a 5 year unlimited km warranty and 5 year roadside assistance.
