Brand new for 2019 is the exciting and exceptional Hyundai Veloster which can come in some really nice orange, red, greys, black and whites for its exterior colouring. The car has a nice youthful design with lots of very smart arty detailing all set to appeal. I love the sweeping roof line that’s low profile and very sporty. Big front air intakes, a huge grille, a low spoiler and side skirts, sexy alloys, a spoiler and just an all-round likeable shape has you quickly enjoying the car’s tasteful racy lines and fresh styling.
One feature that stands out as being different and cool is that the new Veloster continues with its two doors on the curb side, and just the one door on the driver’s side. Asymmetric looks don’t always look so good, however Hyundai makes it work, and I like that.
Another feature that makes this car really great in my book is that the new Veloster has big cargo space, and loads of practical interior space. If you fold the rear seats forward there is a really big luggage carrying capacity. It would have to be near the top of its class for luggage capacity and all round cabin space and comfort.
The 2019 Hyundai Veloster starts off with the base model which is powered by the 2.0-litre non turbo DOHC petrol engine. Interior styling is nice with plenty of colour accents and silver trimmings and modern technology. The 2019 Hyundai Veloster bundles fun in with plenty of features. The 2019 Veloster is available in five trims, with two designated for the 2.0-liter—named 2.0 and 2.0 Premium—and three variants for the 1.6-litre Turbo, starting with an R-Spec, an eponymous trim, and the Turbo Ultimate. The Ultimate version is powered by the familiar 150 kW turbocharged 1.6-litre inline-four which creates a low-cost fun drive that virtually matches the Honda Civic Si and Volkswagen GTI cars. A 0-100 sprint takes a little over six seconds.
Seats in top of the line models are full accented leather with lumbar and side bolstered seats for superior comfort. A HeadsUp display, sunroof and high-end safety features are some of the nice items that a flagship Veloster will boast.
Worth the small wait, and you’ll have Hyundai’s Veloster N version which is the most powerful version available with over 200 kW on tap. This will shake up the hot hatch segment good and proper!
Out on the road, the new Hyundai Veloster feels really accurate and well planted on the road. The multilink suspension sets new benchmarks for performance hatchbacks and overall the new Veloster is nicely dialled in. Opt for the more powerful cars and there is some really exciting performance on offer with the latest Hyundai Veloster. Big torque is available from 1500 rpm right through to 4500 rpm – just the way we like it.
Hyundai sticks with offering a manual gearbox option which is really good for those who like the most engaging driving style. The manual gearbox is brilliant, with nicely gated ratios that optimise engine power and torque beautifully. Automatic options are available, so to a DCT unit.
All new colours, a nice fresh design makeover and all the new modern technology added into the brand new 2019 Hyundai Veloster gives you plenty of interest for new people wanting to purchase something fast, affordable and stylish. It would be hard to overlook a new Veloster if you wanted something in this market segment.
