The new twenties decade is producing some amazing EVs and hybrid vehicles, and none more so than cars like the new 2021 Porsche Panamera Hybrids. A Panamera is a top-of-the-line luxury sports car from the German car manufacturer Porsche, and, really, you need to have plenty of cash around to afford one, especially for the V8 E-Hybrid Panamera models that are now available to the new car buyer in 2021. Each Panamera E-Hybrid model has hybrid power, suave comfort for four, low profile Panamera looks, and epic performance. Boasting extra seats in the rear means that you can have the speed of a 911 with the practicality of a four-seater.
Starting with practicality: the Panamera has always been a good alternative for the sports car driver who needs extra space and seating for friends and family. A sizable boot, four doors, a luxury interior and a low-slung exterior make the Panamera sedan more than just a quick mile muncher. It has those unmistakable Porsche lines that are streamlined and attractive but with the added bonus of accommodating a small family onboard for the ride? This is the desirable car (supercar) driving enthusiast choice of the decade for those who need spare seats for passengers!
Inside the 2021 Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid you will find very comfortable Alcantara seating for four occupants. Stretching out and relaxing in fabulous style is very much a treat in what can only be describes as a very quick four-seater. The sport leather seats are gorgeous, and there are even plenty of handy storage compartments throughout the cabin. SE variants can be equipped with an onboard TV, which can be enjoyed by back seat passengers during a long journey. Satellite navigation, electric windows, a premium audio surround sound system, cruise control, zoned climate control, a modern touch screen control panel and digital driver’s display all add to the classy Panamera interior. The two individual seats in the second-row fold separately or jointly, increasing luggage capacity to as much as 1250 litres.
On the road, the AWD Panamera reigns supreme in the handling stakes. Sport Plus mode boasts a very taut suspension setting that delivers some of the best handling characteristics of any of the best sports cars for four occupants. Sport Plus is for the rack, while just the Sport mode is still very grippy but remains a little more forgiving over bumpy surfaces. The air suspension works a treat, and it is simplistic to operate via the selection button located on the centre console next to the gear lever. The chunky steering wheel fits softly and very nicely in the hands, while the driving position is comfortable and supportive. The E-Hybrid Panameras all boast carbon ceramic brakes, magnetic handling and superior performance to provide a driving sensation that no other sedans can match.
The base model Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid uses the punch of a twin turbo V6 petrol that is mated to an electric motor which adds boost, offers limited electric mode driving and generally drops fuel consumption quite markedly over the conventional ICE alternatives. The result of the base model’s set-up is a 243 kW output with 450 Nm of torque available for plenty of performance. AWD is standard, an eight-speed sports automatic the shifter, and active cornering steering makes for brilliant road holding.
Next in the line-up is the more luxuriously equipped Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Executive. It runs with exactly the same engine and drivetrain as the base model but with a few more bells and whistles, like distinctive side skirts, heated electric seats throughout the car and with memory functions.
Go for the Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid and the base twin turbo V6 engine gets a big performance lift, with as much as 331 kW and 550 Nm at the ready. The punch and the power are addictive.
Top of the E-Hybrid Panamera range is the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. This boasts 420 kW and 770 Nm out of the mild-hybrid V8 powerplant. 0-100 km/h is done in a smidgeon over 3.0 seconds. This V8 sports/luxury Panamera performance doesn’t come cheap, with one of these cars worth a little over $450k new. Still, it offers a drive that is nothing short of sensational.
