If you have a spare $99k to $135k, you can get yourself into a brand new 2021 Audi A6 luxury/sports sedan. There are models to choose from to best suit your tastes, power and technology requirements, however all are very classy, comfortable and sweetly elegant, large sedans for the discerning buyer.
Ultra Blue and Firmament Blue has the new A6 looking stunning, but that’s my preference talking. Another of the exterior colours I like is the gold/brown metallic that shimmers in the sunlight. There are numerous other grey, white and black tones on offer. In total, there are 9 exterior colours to choose between. Four door practicalities, plenty of space, five-star ANCAP safety, adult seating for five, and a full array of technology wrapped up in opulent elegance. Now that’s the Audi way. Here is one of the most prestigious luxury sedans you can buy.
Both the Audi A6 40 models use the responsive 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre turbo ULP engine. Linked to a 7-speed S-tronic gearbox, this little package packs some punch and feeds the power out to the front wheels for getting its mojo out on the road. The more expensive of the two 2.0T base models is the S-Line version, and this one gets some sportier kit to give it slightly spunkier looks. As far as power goes, the 2.0T has 140 kW and 320 Nm, enough to see the standstill to 100 km/h sprint done in around nine seconds. The ride and comfort of these cars is superb and the road holding very good. This is a nice daily driver for the school run or as a luxury commuter. No need to go for a bulky SUV at all!
Audi offers the new A6 with another 2.0T variety, which is the same engine as the base models but with uprated performance and AWD for getting the power down on the road. The quattro all-wheel drive system is brilliant, and this is the motor I would be opting for if you want the zip to move 1.7 tonnes of car along smartly. The extra few horses easily whip the A6 along at a quick pace, and the road holding in the wet is nothing short of impressive. With 180 kW of power and 370 Nm of torque, this is a set up for plenty of fun as well as serene opulence. This is called the Audi A6 45 TFSI 2.0-litre turbo-petrol variant, and it’s a peach.
For those of you who like hard hitting performance, then the AWD 3.0-litre Audi A6 55 TFSI V6 will give you plenty of that. 250 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque is fully available for the driver who likes his commute spent out in the fast lane. This model can easily scamper up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h and will see the 0-100 km/h dash finished in around 6 seconds.
There are some things that are necessary kit in a fully-fledged luxury European sedan, like the A6 is. Standard equipment on an A6 runs to satellite navigation, leather interior trim with powered and heated front seats, Audi Matrix LED headlights, smart-phone integration and a premium 10-speaker audio with crystal clear sound quality and a sub-woofer to boot. The 2021 Audi A6 may be a luxury sedan but there is a lot of handy features that make this quite practical as well. Audi are happy for us to tow a trailer up to 750 kg unbraked or 2000 kg braked in there 2021 A6 models. Rear seat passengers will enjoy a decent amount of leg room behind the front seats. The rear seats are split folding, and there are cup holders front and rear, and plenty of storage options.
Even on the base model A6 you can ramp things up with a few delectable options. And there are a few options offered… Just for the A6 40 TFSI you can add: adaptive dampers, a Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system with a 16-Speaker audio experience with a CD/DVD player, inlays that boast fine grain ash, inlays with walnut, a metallic or pearl effect paint job, an electric panoramic glass sunroof, a powered boot lid and darkened rear windows. A styling package, worth $3k, has you enjoying 20-inch alloy wheels, headlamps with high beam active shadowing, LED headlights, and a sports suspension. There are other options available too for the other models, which include things like 4-zone climate control and air suspension.
Audi A6 safety is five-star; this ensures that things like 8 airbags, active and automatic light sensitive headlamps, LED DRLs, self-levelling headlights, abs, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, collision alert/warning systems, blind spot sensoring, an active bonnet safety system, brake emergency display with hazard/stoplights, camera all around the car, crash avoidance systems with braking at high and low speeds, pedestrian avoidance with braking, front and rear cross traffic alert, driver attention detection, a first aid kit, lane departure warning, active lane keeping assist, parking assistance with a graphical display and a handy hill holder assistance system feature as standard items on all models.
Don’t just buy a Beemer because everyone else says that they are the best ride for you. Before you lay down the cash, do try an A6 or a Jag out to help ensure you have made the best informed decision.
