Under the hood of the Tiggo 8 lies a punchy performer in the guise of a 2.0-litre turbocharged ULP motor that puts out up to 180 kW and 375 Nm without blowing out on fuel efficiency.  I was impressed with the effortless way that the Tiggo 8 polished off the 0–100 km/h sprint, taking around 8 seconds, which is very respectable.  The engine’s power is harnessed by a smooth, advanced 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), which transmits the engine’s power nice and smoothly out to the rubber on the road (or off-road) via the smart AWD system.  You have three driving modes to choose between, ensuring the best connection is obtained for the required journey, be that a cruisy holiday, a city commute, or a cross-country adventure. 

Chery have quite a stable of thoroughbred SUVs for you to check out.  Take a look and you’ll see the stylish Omoda 5 SUV range, which also has an EV model.  The Tiggo 4 is a nice compact SUV, if that’s the way you like them.  Then the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a decent medium-size five-seat SUV.  But if you’re thinking of owning a new large and luxurious seven-seat SUV, then the Tiggo 8 Pro Max is the SUV cherry on the top, the one I’d be seriously considering the most.
