Holden Cascada

Glide into the Holden Cascada interior, and you’re in a whole new world of motoring.  Holden haven’t offered a convertible model for some years now, but with the introduction of the sexy Cascada that has pleasantly changed.

With the roof electronically folded away at the push of a button, the Holden Cascada reveals a sumptuous interior that beckons to be sat in and unleashed on the open road.  A gracefully designed fascia and central console house sporty switchgear and all sorts of technical mod cons for making the drive very contemporary and comfortable.  Coloured stitching joins materials together on the dash and seat upholstery, giving the Cascada a touch of class found only in the more exotic and smarter looking cars.  The front seats are heated and give tremendous comfort and support for any journey you care to take, and certainly they feel more than up to the task of completing a long day at the wheel.  Touches of chrome around various dials and features inside the car, along with elegant and clear dials, gives the Holden Cascada the thumbs up for providing something pretty special to drive.  The perforated Siena leather-appointed trim, wrapped and stitched dashboard along with the heated leather-wrapped steering wheel provides an elegance usually reserved for more expensive drives.  This is a great cockpit, and I fell in love with the Holden Cascada experience even before igniting the feisty engine.

Holden have done really well at making the Cascada a really desirable convertible; a convertible that isn’t too big, and matches the feelings of the Cascada being both a refined and more than capable swift roadster.  There are loads of nice driver aids to make the driving experience fun and informed.  A rear view camera, front and rear park assist, a power seat belt presenter, driver information display, satellite navigation, cruise control, a trip computer, rain sensing wipers, a tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, Intelligent High Beam Head Lamps that can dip for oncoming traffic, and even a text to speech functionality.  This Holden convertible is loaded with kit, and your travelling companions will appreciate the Holden Cascada experience.  The best ride is not just for those who sit in the front seats.  Dual-zone climate control ensures that the rear seat occupants remain comfortable in what is a roomy back row for two adults.

Premium audio sounds can be enjoyed via a seven-speaker system, which can be controlled by the driver via the multifunction steering wheel controls.  The Holden MyLink Infotainment System with a 7-inch colour information display is the hub for on-board entertainment.  Enhanced voice control accesses the MyLink system and can even receive and make calls audibly with the voice control feature.  The safe universal hands-free phone system is easy to use.

There is plenty of power to pack a hefty punch from the sporty 1.6-litre turbo engine.  A maximum power output of 125 kW and 260 Nm is a very good thing.  It’s also a good thing that Holden have equipped the Cascada with all the latest safety features which include voice control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist (BA), and automatic head lamps.  Front and side airbags are standard.  A very safety-minded feature for a convertible such as the Cascada is the addition of the pop-up rollover protection bars.

Shod with 18-inch alloy wheels and boasting a sports tuned suspension, the Holden Cascada can really turn on the performance when the 1.6-litre turbo-charged SIDI direction injection petrol engine is fully utilised.  It would be nice to experience the engine in a manual version, but the six-speed auto does a good job.  Super stylish with Opel styling, it is a very smooth cruiser and a lovely way to get around with the roof down.
