This motor uses every ounce of the 240 Nm available through six manual gears. And just to add a little more zing, an after boost can aid the engine to access 280 Nm! Superbly quick and heaps of fun, you can really embarrass owners of larger more expensive sports cars – whether at the lights or in tight twisting turns. BMW have enabled mini to offer a diesel option for the Mini Cooper. And what a superb car the Mini Cooper D is. My pick of the bunch, the Cooper D has all the fun of the grippy chassis, but matches this up with an engine that is sprightly and so fuel efficient. On average, you can expect a fuel economy figure of around the 3.8 to 4.0 litres/100 km. This is a very sensible option, and it has all the style you could wish for, as well.
Engines in the Mini Cooper are transversely mounted to provide more comfortable cabin room and a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission.
