Megane Wagon Petrol

Renault Megane Wagon

Renault Megane Wagon

A five year unlimited km warranty has to be good for anyone looking for a brand new wagon.  Since Renault and Nissan have collaborated in their designs and engineering, I think Renault has been creating some pretty solid cars.  The new range of petrol-fed Renault Megane Wagons are fashionable, roomy and comfortable to drive.

On the appearance front, the new Renault Megane Wagon is a sharp looking wagon with plenty of flair in the detailing of the bodywork.  Large endearing headlights draw the eye, while high door sills and a low profile roof-line look really good – especially in the wagon models.  Flared wheel arches give the Megane Wagon a strong presence, while the chrome Renault diamond graces the front and makes a bold, classy statement.  Driving lights are set into the rounded front air dam, and the Megane Wagon has a range of alloys to really set it apart from other drives in its class.  If you can, I think making sure you have the roof rails on your Megane wagon ups the cars looks and practicality.

Slip inside the new Renault Megane Wagon and you’ll find that there is heaps of upmarket technology that are standard features.  You’ll love the comfort of the Renault designed seats, especially over a long commute or trip away.  The base model is known as the Dynamique, and even in this guise you get things like Bluetooth phone pairing with audio streaming, MP3, USB, Aux inputs, dual zone climate control, hands-free entry, a leather wrapped steering wheel, dark charcoal cloth upholstery for the seats, front airbags, side airbags and curtain airbags.

If you still require more comfort, then the new Renault Megane GT-Line Wagon adds satellite navigation, a seven-inch display screen, 17-inch Celsium alloys, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and front and rear parking sensors.  The GT-Line Premium Wagon has all that the GT-Line offers, while adding beautiful dark charcoal leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors with a camera, Lane Departure Warning, an Arkamys premium sound system and heated front seats.

Power for the above mentioned Renault Megane models comes from a 97 kW 1.2-litre turbo engine.  This power is quite remarkable given the engine displacement but with some excellent direct engine technology and a turbo added in for good measure, these engines are capable.  Useful torque (205 Nm @ 2000 rpm) gives the base model Megane wagon a responsiveness that you’d expect from 1.8 litre and 2.0 litre motors.  A six-speed automatic links the engine power very well for responsive, efficient performance.  Fuel efficiency in this model is also very good, with a combined fuel consumption of around 6 litres/100 km.

All of the above Megane petrol wagons are powered by the same sprightly 1.2-litre turbo engine.  On the right piece of road, the car will top 200 km/h.  Out on the open road, the Megane Wagon sits true on the road, and the ride comfort is very good.  Braking is excellent, and ABS is a standard feature.  Smooth power delivery and a strong engine makes for a nice drive.  Ride quality over rough tarmac is up there with the best in its class.

For breath-taking performance, the driving enthusiast might prefer one of the two Renalt Megane petrol wagons with the high output 2.0-litre engine.  With 162 kW of power and 340 Nm of torque fed through a six-speed manual transmission, the GT 220 and GT 220 Premium are some very well equipped Renault wagons that are happy to run in the fast lane.  With the extra power these two models have uprated sport suspension, and the premium model also boasts a sunroof.  These are fast mid-size wagons, and for FWD they are amongst the cleanest handling in their class.

As you would expect from Renault, all the latest safety features are standard across the Megane wagon range, so even the Dynamique comes with ABS, EBA, EBD ESC and an electronic parking brake.  A comprehensive list of airbags right throughout the cabin is a standard feature.  Three-point seatbelts for middle rear seat occupants is also present.  Five-star safety is what Renault is all about, and they quite rightly can claim to be some of the safest cars on the road.
