Big can sometimes be beautiful, and in the case of the all new Ssangyong Rexton you have stunning lines which provide the on-looker with a crisp, beautiful SUV shape.
Two models are offered – both of which can seat seven occupants comfortably. The manual or automatic, on-demand 4WD, SsangYong Rexton RX270 XDi boasts an impressive price tag and is loaded with goodies. It also has a creamy 2.7-litre turbo-diesel that does the business effortlessly.
The 2010 automatic Rexton RX270 XVT SPR has a few extra features like leather, heated seats, electric front seats, reverse parking sensors and a slightly more powerful diesel engine (137 kW and 402 Nm).
Both machines have airbags, Active Rollover Protection, ESP and traction control. Weighing in at a healthy 2.3 tonnes makes this vehicle a solid and safe AWD/SUV.
The interior is stylish and roomy, and with Bluetooth communications, MP3 compatibiliy, 12V sockets and premium sound, the holiday or weekend away, with the boat towed behind, becomes pure pleasure. The AWD SPR version is excellent off-road, so getting to the secluded beach spot is no problems at all.
Check out the new SsangYong Rexton. It is arguably the best-value SUV that money can buy.
An SUV with style! That’s what the SsangYong Rexton is. The Rexton is one of Australia’s class leading SUVs, with an emphasis on practicality and value.
The SsangYong Rexton has a very smooth 2.7 litre diesel engine. The engine can be linked to either a slick-shifting 5-speed manual gearbox or a smooth-operating 5-speed T-Tronic automatic – with sports shift control. The engine is a class leader and possesses the latest in technological design to make the power plant highly efficient on fuel. This fuel efficiency is a welcome asset in a world where fuel prices are unpredictable. The South Korean designed Rexton is capable of providing an average fuel consumption figure of around 9 litres/100 km when all factors are reviewed. This is impressive, particularly when you consider that the Rexton is very solidly built and weighs in at over two tonnes. Most SSangyong Rexton reviews will agree that the Rexton is a pleasure to drive. You always feel fully in control of everyday driving, and the commanding driving position is satisfying to behold. The Rexton feels solid to drive and remains very composed on twisting, undulating roads. You can choose between the torque-on-demand four wheel system and the all wheel drive system. Both provide superb traction in slippery, demanding conditions.
The exterior has a well developed appearance that looks very decent. The SsangYong trademark grille gives the Rexton good-looking bonnet lines which adds to its unique appearance. A rear spoiler adds both functionality and the addition of the rear third tail lamp. The folding wing mirrors are heated. Altogether, the Rexton is one sharp looking SUV.
The interior of the Rexton has loads of cargo space and seven-seat flexibility. There is automatic air conditioning with an AQS air filter system that is dual zone. The mobile phone holder that is built into the dash, cup holders and premium surround sound makes the Rexton an amazingly comfortable and relaxing SUV to travel in. Room abounds in both the front and rear passenger seats. There aren’t any cheap plastics used inside the SsangYong Rexton’s interior. In fact, the craftsmanship is outstanding. When you are seated inside the quiet cabin, the road noise is superbly muted. Hope you enjoyed this brief Ssangyong Rexton review.
