Aerodynamically designed, the little Suzuki Liana is sprightly to drive. If I had to sum up in one word what the Suzuki Liana is lik, I would say, “Practical”.
The Liana is, of course, more than this. Suzuki has taken a compact vehicle and calculated exceptional interior room for passenger comfort. Inside the cabin, there is enough room to seat five passengers. This is quite a marvel really, particularly when you consider the car’s smallish dimensions. The Liana sedan is around 4.2 metres long, which I guess makes it a larger small car.
The little Liana sits nicely on some attractive wheels, and the elegant exterior “grows on you”. The car is front wheel drive, and comes with a choice of two petrol engines. There is the 1.6 litre dual overhead cam unit that boasts variable valve timing and adequate get-up-and-go. The bigger 1.8 litre dual overhead cam engine also has variable valve timing and plenty of zip. Both engines generate low CO2 emissions, and the outstanding fuel economy of both the engines means that there will be long distances between the top-ups at the fuel pump. A very nice robust 5-speed manual gearbox has a crisp feeling and it allows you to whisk the Liana through the gears very agreeably. The 4-speed electronically controlled automatic gearbox is smooth and efficient, making good use of the engine’s peak torque when required. On the road, the car grips well to the tarmac and has minimal body roll.
The Suzuki Liana’s interior is not only roomy but comfortable, too. Manually adjustable front seats provide just the right position for nearly every size person that cares to take the Liana for a drive. For those who like nice sounds while they are travelling, there is a choice of either a 4 or 7 speaker audio system. The unit comes with a very good subwoofer and CD player. A 6 stack CD player is also available. The audio controls are on the dash as well as on the steering wheel for easy driver access. The tilting steering column allows for just the right height adjustment – making your time behind the wheel enjoyable it. A comfortable driving position makes all the difference. The Suzuki Liana comes with power windows, power locks and mirrors, plus power steering as well as air conditioning. There are many storage spaces in the cabin too. Cup holders are situated in the front and rear of the vehicle. In the boot, there is a luggage shelf, and the impressive little boot can hold an impressive amount of luggage. One of the cool features in the Liana is its digital instrument display. Road speed is indicated numerically, while engine rpm, fuel level and coolant temp are shown on bar graphs. There are also dual trip meters in addition to the everyday odometer.
Safety features on the Suzuki Liana include dual driver and passenger front airbags, a collapsible steering column, front seat belt pre-tensioners, child seat anchorage tether points, side collision impact beams, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, and a security deadlock system with engine immobiliser.
For price, practicality, economy and versatility, you really can’t overlook the Suzuki Liana. Dealership service and backup are excellent. Before you buy anything else, check the Liana out today.
