A freshen up in the Citroen C3 styling has given the latest model a more rounded and smoother appearance. The outgoing design was always going to be hard to better, but I think most people will agree that the facelift still looks a picture. Curvy, cute and sassy, the C3 has got it all.
Inside the Citroen C3 cabin is a dash design that is one of the nicest looking in its class. Touches of silver and different shades of gray give a neat dash area that looks classy and doesn’t look overweight and heavy. The chunky multi-tasking steering wheel is very nice to grip onto, with audio controls being a nice addition.
The central console has a modern, tidy look and boasts a screen with all the information the driver will need for the trip. Electric windows, climate air-conditioning, a grunty audio system, cruise control, many of the latest active and passive safety features, and a small car that’s big on space are some of the things you’ll love about the new Citroen C3.
The Citroen C3 may look small, but it can deliver some very big features. Its uniqueness has made the C3 one of the top-selling cars in Australia, and there is good reason for this. Over the years the C3 has been honed and refined to make it a small car with surprising power and agility, and this has not gone unnoticed.
Though small, the Citroen C3 has a design that makes it roomy and comfortable, and still able to hug the road and handle the curves like a champion.
One of the newest things about the Citroen C3 is its new feature that allows for even less petrol consumption. For its size, the C3 is already great at using less fuel than most, but the new “stop start” system helps even more. For times when the car is idling in traffic, the car can be turned off and then will automatically start again when the accelerator is pressed. With this feature, there is no unnecessary burning of fuel.
The Citroen C3 is an enjoyable vehicle to own and drive. The little fashion statement doesn’t just have the good looks. The three different engines perform well, hustling the small car along nicely in the town and out in the country.
A 1.4-litre petrol engine is offered on the 1.4 VT model. The 55 kW engine delivers good response and outstanding fuel economy (6.2 litres/100km). The five-speed manual gearbox slots nicely up and down the gear ratios allowing you to make the most of the 118 Nm of torque on offer. You can opt for the bigger 1.6-litre petrol engine, which actually drives many other small Citroen variants. Citroen has made sure that this 1.6-litre engine performs well – and it needs to in such a competitive market place, with many of the Japanese car makers offering very good small sized cars. You will not be disappointed in the 1.6-litre C3 petrol versions. They are a sweet drive and are delightfully nippy. With greater a jump in torque, you now have 160 Nm. The little French car whisks along nicely at the legal open road speed limit in a refined and unruffled progression. It truly is quite impressive for a car that is so compact!
The Citroen C3 also has a turbo-diesel HDI motor available to two of its C3 models. Of all C3 cars, this might just be the one that tickles your fancy the most – depending on your tastes, of course. Driven through a slick 5-speed manual gearbox, the diesel motor pulls so well and uses the impressive 215 Nm of torque brilliantly. Fuel consumption is class leading and, on average, 5.5 litres/100 km should be about the norm.
All Citroen C3 models are agile and soak up the bumps extremely well. The ride is excellent, and superb anti-lock brakes pull the car to lower speeds or to a halt in no time at all. Large windows give excellent visibility from inside the comfy cabin, and you really do get a great view of the outside area about the car. You’ll love the panoramic Zenith front windscreen which lets in so much light. In the Citroen C3, practicality runs alongside fun, and you’ll note that the split folding rear seats can be utilised to make the credible 300 litres of boot space bigger if needs be. Cabin storage is also ingenious.
Each of the Citroen C3 models are nicely equipped with tasty features. An air-conditioning unit with a particulate filter, a parcel shelf, a six-speaker CD audio system, a trip computer, leather or premium cloth seats, ESP and airbags all round are just a few of the excellent features found onboard the nice looking Citroen C 3. Citroen dealers will provide you with outstanding service back-up, while the new car buyer will enjoy the three-year/100 000 km warranty and a 24 hr three-year roadside assistance programme.
Well priced, good looking and comfortable; it’s hard to beat the tidy Citroen C3 package.
