Look distinctly elegant in Jeep’s all new 4-wheel-drive master. Vehicle manufacturer Jeep knows how to make a vehicle cross harsh terrain, and the new Jeep Compass is no exception. They say heavy snow, ice, fog, and rain are weather conditions made by God to ensure a natural selection process for body shops, junkyards, and new vehicle sales continues. The problem is the Jeep Compass loves these types of conditions. It was built for hostile weather conditions.
Slip into the comfortable driver’s seat, and you will soon discover that underneath is a drive train that offers tenacious grip – even in the worst conditions imaginable. Switch on the premium sounds, and the Jeep Compass becomes one of the most relaxing and enjoyable rides over any rough stuff. The Jeep Compass’s state-of-the-art electronic four-wheel-drive system anticipates the need for added traction and responds to wheel-slippage by transferring power to the rear wheels. This system improves vehicle stability in high speed cornering by modulating power to the rear wheels. The Jeep Compass delivers impressive power, and the machine boasts the latest engine design. A 2.0-litre Common Rail Diesel engine creates 103kW at 4000 rpm. A phenomenally sweet 310Nm of torque is also on tap from very low engine revs. The alternative to the diesel engine, in the Compass models, is the 2.4-litre petrol engine. This tight unit produces 125kW at 6000 rpm. It also boasts 220Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. You will be amazed at the excellent fuel consumption that both engines are capable of. All compass models are fun to drive. They offer a high quality suspension that is tuned for a superior ride. The handling and noise reduction levels are impressive.
Inside, is a cabin that is loaded with features to pamper and please. Superb leather seating can be yours, but if you prefer you can opt for the wonderful stain, odour resistant and anti-static seat fabric called “YES Essentials”. This fabric will keep the whole family happy. Oodles of storage space and leg room can be found inside the Jeep Compass. A removable cabin light is a handy feature, and so to is the vinyl cargo area. This vinyl flooring is removable and washable for easy cleaning. A powered sunroof comes as standard.
Fat tyres and smart alloys complement one of the world’s nicest looking 4-wheel-drives. The seven slot grille and round headlights are strikingly good looking. So too is the chunky and sporty looking five door body.
The Jeep Compass is loaded with active and passive safety features. If anyone is stupid enough to play dodgems with a Jeep Compass, I know who is likely to come off second best.
With a VW sourced turbo diesel, a grippy suspension and chassis, and competitive pricing, you can’t go wrong with the awesome new Jeep Compass.
