It’s great to see Peugeot living up to its fantastic performance standards. The new Peugeot 207 GTi is bigger and sexier than its predecessor, and with a potent 1.6 litre, petrol turbo-engine the Peugeot 207 GTi has superior performance. As always, the small Pug’s chassis is a gem.
Looking over the Peugeot 207 GTi exterior lines, and you’ll note that the car sits squatly upon its low-profile tyres. A low front air dam and sporty lights give the Peugeot’s face an attractive, racy look. Sidle around to the side of the Peugeot 207 GTi, and the car’s sporty overtones continue, with some very sharp looking 17 –inch alloys. To top it all off, the Peugeot 207 GTi has a cute little backside, twin exhausts, and on the little Pug’s roofline is a dinky antenna.
It doesn’t take long to appreciate how good this car feels on the road, and it all starts from the ergonomically designed driver’s bucket seat. The little Peugeot 207 GTi seats are superbly comfortable and offers support that wraps around the base of the back. It’s easy to find a driving position to suit that remains comfortable for long periods of time. Grip the leather-trimmed steering wheel, and you’ll enjoy its chunky feel.
I love the look of the new Peugeot interiors, they are always very classy and clean cut. The Peugeot 207 GTi comes with leather seats, and everywhere you look around the Peugeot’s cabin there are oodles of luxury items present. Elegant, is an appropriate way of describing the Peugeot’s smart dash. The carbon fibre finish to the centre console looks extremely stylish and sophisticated. Carbon fibre finishing is also found on the instrument dials.
An excellent dual zone climate control air-conditioning unit is supplied by Peugeot. Equipped with a pollen filter, the climate control air-conditioning unit works beautifully in all hot, dusty conditions. The clean air inside the Peugeot’s cabin means that you won’t have to try and hold back dust stimulated sneezes. The Peugeot 207 GTi comes with tinted glass, speed sensitive power steering, cruise control, electric windows, a height and reach adjustable steering wheel and door mirrors that are heated and electrically adjustable. Boasting electronic parking assistance, you’ll find parking the Peugeot 207 GTi a doodle.
Blasting along the roads in the Peugeot 207 GTi is fun enough, but when the car comes equipped with a premium car entertainment and communications system, this is one hot 207! The steering wheel is equipped with remote audio controls, so changing your song mid-flight is easy and safe. The audio system has a speed related volume control unit – which in my book is a very sensible feature. You’ll be pleased to note that with the Peugeot 207 GTi comes MP3 player compatibility, a USB port, and Bluetooth Communications.
On the safety front, the Peugeot 207 GTi is as safe as they come. Yes, this is a small car, but with the safety reputation of Peugeot (Now a benchmark.), you can rest assured that this is a strong small-car safety choice. As you would expect, the Peugeot 207 GTi is very well-equipped when it comes to safety. In the event of a nasty accident occurring, the doors have been designed to automatically unlock. Peugeot has equipped the 207 GTi with a steering stability program, tyre pressure sensors, pre-tensioning seatbelts, height adjustable front seat belts, six airbags, ABS, EBFD, EBA and ESP.
With a car as good as this one, you best make sure that it can be well locked up at night. Peugeot have helped you with this, and so they have equipped the Peugeot 207 GTi with a rolling code transponder immobiliser.
Under the Peugeot 207 GTi’s racy bonnet lies a hard-hitting engine. The 1.6 litre, turbo petrol-engine has a peak power output of 128 kW. This output is reached at 6000 rpm. The engine torque seems effortless for such a small car, and can be accessed from as low as 1600 rpm – making it a usable rocket. Plant your right foot and you will surely fly. The Peugeot 207 GTi has intoxicating acceleration and a top speed of 220 km/h.
It is pleasing to note that all this performance comes with a restraint to fuel consumption. You will find that the Peugeot 207 GTi is credibly frugal. A combined fuel consumption cycle of 7.2 litres/100 km is excellent, particularly when you consider the rate at which this little car is able to cover the ground.
The Peugeot 207 GTi is great fun to drive. And with the sexy styling you’ll will be an instant hit! Definitely a highly rated drive, particularly if you are a strong driving enthusiast.
