On the road, you have plenty of power to burn. The quickest of the Saab 95 Sport Estate’s four engines is the superbly fast 2.3T High Output Turbo engine that is petrol fed and puts out 191 kW of power through traction controlled front wheels. Maximum power is reached at 5300 rpm and the hefty torque figure of 350 Nm gives plenty of take off from any speed. The engine is linked to a five-speed auto that is quiet and clinical in its operation. A 0-100 km/h time of 8.5 seconds and a top speed just shy of 250 km/h makes this estate something very special. The other three engine variants are: a petrol fed 2.3t Low pressure turbo 136kW unit, a 2.3t BioPower (ethanol/petrol) 154kW unit, and, to complete the accomplished Saab 95 Sport Estate range, a 1.9TiD diesel fed 110kW unit. The diesel motor can deliver 5.9 litres/100 km economy on the open road, a 200 km/h top speed and smooth responsive performance. The diesel engine is linked to a robust, technologically advanced five-speed automatic transmission.
