Perky small sedans come along once in a while, and this years Kia Cerato is a small sedan that fits this bill. Sporty lines, accommodation for five adults, and practical boot space make this a sedan that will please many of this year’s new car buyers. Not only is the sedan on offer. Just lately the smart little five-door Cerato hatch has become available, while the already successful Cerato Koup is a must drive.
Two-litre petrol power and a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty provides the Cerato with years of performance and trouble free motoring. Handling is neutral and well planted.
Seating is comfortable, and the Kia Cerato boasts plenty of features to impress both the driver and their passengers. Depending on the model, tricot cloth trim or jersey knit trim for the seating upholstery looks very smart. A leather-wrapped steering wheel that is tilt and telescopically adjustable allows the driver to get really comfortable. The tinted glass, rear centre armrest with cup holders, aluminium detailing and illuminated vanity mirrors create a cabin ambience with a special touch of class.
Most definitely a bargain buy!
What a great little number this is! The Kia Cerato is one of those cars that pleases the owner and always brings a smile.
The styling is eye-catching and aerodynamic. Chic is a word that comes to mind; fashionable is another. The curvy high roof line extends almost out to the taillights in the sedan. Beautifully sculptured front headlights that are incorporated into the bonnet lines and facial design give the Kia Cerato a purposeful and confident stance. The high waistline gives the small car a sense of strength in its overall design, and the almost oval wing mirrors and round driving lights give a sporty look, particularly when the Kia Cerato is also fitted with side skirts and the six-leafed steel mags.
The sporty looks are complemented with excellent on-road manners that offer the driver confidence in cornering thanks to the rigid chassis and the MacPherson strut suspension at the front and dual link rear suspension. Push the little Kia Cerato hard through the bends and it responds predictably. No nasty surprises here! The disc brakes bite hard in unison with the 185/65 R15 tyres to control progress. The peppy 2.0 litre motor is flexible and wants to be driven with verve. With DOHC and CVVT technology, the 115 kW engine performs willingly throughout the rev range. Fuel efficiency is good and the manufacturers claim 7.5 litres per 100 km for the five-speed manual and 7.7 l/100 km for the four-speed auto. Whether the auto or manual gearbox is preferred, both versions of Kia Cerato will perform smartly and reliably throughout the entire range of engine revs. The engine pulls well and is at its best at around 4300 rpm, where the full 194 Nm of torque can be accessed.
The Kia Cerato is not a big car, measuring 4.480 m long for the sedan and a slightly more tucked appearance for the hatchback at 4.340 m. However, the five comfortable occupants will enjoy sitting in their supportive seats that are finished in a plush, hardwearing fabric. The interior colours of the Kia Cerato are well blended and sophisticated, and blend nicely with the eight lovely exterior colours.
Head down the road and you can enjoy conversing with friends or family in the quiet, roomy interior of the Kia Cerato. Slip it into cruise control mode and you can enjoy the relaxing progress that the frugal, refined Kia Cerato gives. Plant the right foot and the Kia Cerato bursts into life, nipping in and out of slower traffic with confidence. Power steering, electric windows, central locking and electric windows are all standard. And while you enjoy the Kia Cerato’s progress from the driver’s seat, you will admire the clearly set out instrument display, and easily read dials and displays. Power up the MP3-compatible compatible CD player sound system and enjoy the six-speaker sound quality that envelops you with clarity and perfection. Air conditioning is standard on the Kia Cerato, so whether it is sweltering outside – or icy cold – the Kia Cerato ensures its occupants are pleasantly comfortable.
Though delightfully quick and responsive, the new Kia Cerato can perform well in an emergency situation. Dual front airbags, front pretensioning seatbelts and a rigid body structure cocoon travellers brilliantly in the event of an accident. Of course, the four-wheel disc brakes, ABS EBD and taut handling will do their utmost to avoid the worst.
Fun to drive, the Kia Cerato was built for driving pleasure. Do you enjoy the benefits of a sporty drive, practicality and low running costs? Drive a Kia Cerato and take a step forward.
