Looking for a nicely priced set of wheels that’s got plenty of flair and plenty of features? Looking for a car that’s small, efficient and right up-to-date; a car that boasts five-star ANCAP safety? Well, the Kia Rio Reborn is brand new, and should fit the bill perfectly.
You can pick up a Kia Rio Reborn at fantastically low prices. Starting from under $16k, the Kia Rio Reborn has a head start over the competitors. Add to this the fact that you have three body shapes to choose from, a new vehicle warranty which is an unlimited kilometre/5 year warranty, two engines to choose from and plenty of cool colours to match the classy styling.
To look at, the new Kia Rio has a hint of the Renault Clio about it. Big beautiful headlights, a strong high waistline, a scooped air dam and a steeply raked A-pillar make for an eye-catching display.
Small on the outside, big on the inside, and packed with neat design features, the new Kia Rio is very modern. Both the driver and front passenger get vanity mirrors in their sun visors. A nice touch is the car’s interior light with a delay-out feature. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fits into the driver’s hands nicely, while all the switchgear and levers are easy to hand – making driving the Kia Rio Reborn a piece of cake.
Kia has worked hard to make their vehicles with all the latest cutting-edge technology. That’s why you’ll find things like the six-function trip computer, ambient temperature display, cruise control with steering wheel mounted controls, map lamps, 2 x 12 volt power outlets and a grunty MP3 compatible CD tuner with four speakers that come with tweeters. USB audio input with iPod compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity with phone streaming are other high-end features. Run to the Kia Rio Reborn SLS and everything is laid on. This is a very smart looking machine with black leather seats, climate control air-conditioning, a choice of exquisite interior and exterior trimmings, and striking 17-inch alloys to complete the package. There are loads of other things I could list, but it’s best to experience these for yourself.
Safety is excellent. The Kia Rio Reborn boasts the very latest active and passive safety features to make your drive safe, not only for you but your loved ones, too.
On the road, the Rio Reborn has excellent road holding, a compliant ride, and plenty of feedback, via the chunky multi-function steering wheel. Two engines are available: a 1.4-litre petrol (79 kW) and a 1.6-litre GDI petrol (103 kW). Plenty of zest is how I would describe the new 1.4-litre motor. I can’t argue with its excellent fuel economy, either. The 1.6-litre GDI has class leading get-up-and-go, while its fuel consumption remains extremely low.
A six-speed manual and four-speed automatic are available for the Kia Rio Reborn S model. The Si and SLi boast the choice of a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission.
What are the car’s competitors? Mazda 2, Honda Jazz, Suzuki Swift and Ford Fiesta provide the stiffest competition. Try the little Kia Rio Reborn before you buy, though. The Rio’s snappy styling, generous interior, entertaining handling and 1.6 GDI grunt makes it hard to look past. Throw in the five-year warranty and price (for what you get), it’s a winner.
