In my mind, one of the standout characteristics of the more modern Mitsubishi cars to date have been the neatly laid out interiors that look very smart and classy. The dark dash background nicely complements the silver trim and chrome inserts. You’ll find that the latest Mitsubishi Colt carries this theme on.
Clearly laid out instruments and switch-gear, an ergonomically excellent driver’s seat, very clear speedometer numbers – with a blue background lighting, and plenty of room inside the Colt’s cabin ensure that the journey inside a new Mitsubishi Colt will be a pleasant one for all the car’s occupants.
The Colt’s exterior design has leant towards a swooping bonnet line that continues up to the A-pillar. This feature is not only classy, but aerodynamically excellent. A tall roof-line ensures that the cabin has plenty of head space, while the tall rear hatch opens wide – making the loading of luggage items a breeze.
What can I base my following statement on: that “the new Mitsubishi Colt comes as a highly recommended”. You only need to experience the Mitsubishi Colt’s easy driving characteristics, roomy seats, economical engines, competitive pricing and sprightly performance to get a handle on what I mean.
Just the one new model is selling at present. This one is the VRX; a sporty little number.
Looking for an economical, roomy and fun vehicle to drive? The Mitsubishi Colt VRX is just the vehicle that to fit your bill.
The small front-wheel drive Mitsubishi Colt offers class-leading cabin space and excellent legroom. Rear seat comfort is good, and noticeable, from the outset, is the high roofline – which equates to an excellent level of head room, all-round. Rear seating is a 40/60 split, which can be individually reclined or folded. The backrests of the front passenger seat can also be folded forward to accommodate longer items. By doing this, the Colt becomes a small vehicle that is ready to do a variety of jobs: from running the prescription to the chemist to the getaway weekend at the family cottage.
VR-X variants offer the clean burning 77 kW engine that offers a very decent level of performance. Housing a modern 1.5-litre petrol engine, fuel economy is good – with an average fuel economy figure of under 6 litres/ 100 km. You will enjoy the combination of the proven Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control systems used by Mitsubishi. There’s lots of fun to be had here, with the added safety of a well planted chassis and good levels of grip. The Mitsubishi Colt is a smooth operator, and performs with commanding aplomb.
Offering a five-speed manual or an optional Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic with INVECS Smart Logic and 6-step Sports Mode you have your bases covered. It all comes down to preference. I will note that the CVT glides along very nicely, indeed.
As far as the Mitsubishi Colt’s design goes, it is smart and sophisticated. The large triangular shaped headlights have a purposeful appearance, and being seated upon some fluted 15-inch alloy wheels you are looking very good indeed. Recently face-lifted, the Mitsubishi Colt VRX has a bulgier colour coded bumper that houses some sweet looking small round driving lights. In fact, the whole front end of the colt looks well balanced and classy. I think the Kingfisher Blue is a beautiful colour for the Colt’s exterior, though there are a number of colour options, including Black.
Hop inside the little hatchback’s interior and the seats offer superb support and comfort. You have yourself power windows, a CD player, iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connections, air-conditioning, front sports seats and some alloy sports pedals to set the car off nicely. It’s well equipped for the excellent price you’ll pay, new. There are driver and front passenger airbags, ABS antilock brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, a chrome exhaust and a leather bound gearshift, too.
Mitsubishi enable their customers to drive away happy with a choice of options to customize your vehicle just the way you want it to look. From twin spoke alloy wheels, to a rear bumper foil, to entry guards, and a variety of interior colours and trim choices. Your preference is sure to be satisfied.
There is nothing like the smell of a brand new car. Down sizing these days has got to be a sensible option. And downsizing to a new Mitsubishi Colt VRX is really stepping up to take charge.
