Stylish people movers are few and far between. It’s nice to know that the latest Mitsubishi Grandis has arrow-like styling that will appeal to most tastes – which is sure to keep the school boys happy while waiting for Mum at the school gate.
The Grandis is a clever vehicle that manages to pack a lot of room in its 4780mm length, 1835mm width and 1685mm height. All sorts of large storage areas equip the holidaying family with plenty of luggage storing options. Slim-line seats that are sculptured nicely to fit and support the human back ensure that there is plenty of legroom in all three rows of seats. You can seat seven occupants inside the Grandis – no problems at all.
Nice smart interior trim and materials make a very sophisticated Grandis interior that is welcoming and up-market. Loads of features amuse the vehicle’s occupants with regularity. The Mitsubishi Grandis has many items: leather seats, independent rear air-conditioning, alloy wheels, roof rails, SRS airbags, side and curtain airbags, child seat anchor points, flexible seating arrangements, ABS, EBD, EBA, reversing sensors, a six-speaker audio system, high contrast instrument dials, cruise control, alloy pedals, bluetooth communications and more.
Though the 2010 Mitsubishi Grandis carries people and luggage with ease, the car’s surefooted nature and spirited drive make for satisfying travel. The 120 kW engine is linked to an intelligent automatic transmission boasting Smart Logic. What you discover is that low down in the engine revs there remains ample torque for smooth acceleration, while in the higher rev zones the Grandis boasts plenty of powerful performance. Overall the Mitsubishi is a very competitively priced, comfortable people mover that offers first-rate on-road performance.
Mitsubishi has long been an accomplished people-mover manufacturer. The new Mitsubishi Grandis is the best yet. The vehicle is well priced, well equipped, spacious and powerful.
Gone are the days where people-movers were designed with functionality as the only purpose in mind. The Grandis has appealing lines that are smooth and do well to hide the massive interior room. The front nose has sleek headlights that capture a sense of purpose and swiftness, and the silver detailing on the air dam looks great – complementing the five spoked alloys beautifully.
Inside, the smart textures and colours are outstanding. Sit in the front seats and you will enjoy a spectacular dash layout. Aluminium trimmings and a black upper-facia give a real touch of class, and when they’re added to the light-blue speedometer and rev counter, you have a very sophisticated design. The instruments are well laid out with a simple and very symmetrical appearance. Comfortable leather seats offer great support to the body and are relaxing on any lengthy journey. The Mitsubishi Grandis is capable of carrying seven adults in brilliant comfort, and boasts lots of storage space and versatility. A well designed climate control system ensures everyone inside the well equipped cabin will remain at ease. There is even a dust and pollen filtration system. The Grandis has a choice of audio systems that include a multi-disk changer with MP3 compatibility. For entertainment value, the optional 8″ screen DVD-player is roof mounted. Storage bins abound in the cargo rear, the center console and doors. Folding down the rear seating can provide the owner van-like cargo space.
The Grandis is being sold in Australia with the strong 120 kW petrol engine. The 2.4 litre manages to pull away, heavily laden, without fuss. The sweet motor has a hefty 216 Nm produced from just 4-cylinders. The 4-speed auto is linked well to the engine’s maximum torque, and it is very willing to shift down when more acceleration is required. The light steering is accurate and, although weighing in at 1660 kg, the Grandis is tight and grippy in cornering – with only a hint of body roll when pushed hard through the corner apex.
As far as safety goes, you’re covered in the Mitsubishi Grandis. With front airbags, plus first and second row side airbags, ABS brakes with EBD, seatbelts with pretensioners and force limiters, and electric anti-trapping windows in the front and rear. You and your passengers should feel safe and well protected in the Grandis.
Exterior features include electric adjustable, and heated side mirrors. The Grandis also has 6 LED turn lamps, fog lamps, and the parking sensors are situated both at the front and the rear of the motor vehicle.
The Mitsubishi Grandis is no ordinary MPV. It has the ability to turn heads and provide a comfortable ride for up to seven people. How could you be without one?
