It’s time to have a look at the new line-up of Mitsubishi Pajeros. This year offers a very smart, upmarket looking vehicle that looks as good parked up at the Melbourne Cup as it does crossing the Sahara. Each new Mitsubishi Pajero has a luxury interior and serious 4×4 talent.
One of the beauties about owning a new Mitsubishi Pajeros is that they offer phenomenal family transport both on and off the tarmac. A new turbo-diesel engine is available which puts out 147 kW of power and a thumping 441 Nm of torque. This combination is perfect for coping with the big wagon’s mass and a fully loaded cabin – and it is all performed with excellent fuel economy. A smooth 3.8-litre, V6 petrol is available, also.
One thing the Pajero does so well is to cover the miles with ease. Taut handling and a compliant ride are the hallmark of the Pajero drive and, as the driver’s seats is so comfortable, you could be doing this all day long without any fuss.
Magnificent room and lavish appointments make travelling in the large Mitsubishi Pajero a distinguished experience. One of the key features is the new dash design that has appealing crests and curves. Right in the central location of the dash is a very clear and modern Mitsubishi Multi Communication System. This system guides you with satellite navigation and puts you in touch with the vehicle’s servicing requirements and audio system. The Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed has iPod functionality. Depending on which model you purchase, depends on the level of features available. Heated seats, alloy pedals, illuminated vanity mirrors, a rear entertainment DVD system and USB connectivity gives you an idea of how entertaining the Pajero can be.
Don’t forget that the Pajero also comes with a magnificent Mitsubishi five year/130,000 km warranty!
The Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the best off-roaders around. This is a serious 4×4.
Uncompromising luxury awaits you as you slide yourself into the rich leather powered-seats. There is room for between 5 and 7 adults. With the third row of seats folded into the floor, there is plenty of luggage space available for those rugged outdoor excursions. The Pajero has some handy reversing sensors – keeping in mind that this is a massive vehicle, this feature is excellent in city car parks. Many key features are packed into the Pajero. The front seats remember the last position they were placed in and will return to the same position with the touch of a button. There is rear seat entertainment system to help keep the kids happy in the back seat on long journeys. However, Dad and Mum in the front will enjoy the optional, and portable, navigation system. On the other hand, the audio system will be liked by all which, when in action, is nothing short of amazing – with 860 watts of pure classy sound designed into a Dolby® 5.1 sound system, which boasts a sub-woofer. Other options include a power sunroof, rear spoiler, alloy side steps with illumination, skid plates, bumper protectors, headlamp and fog lamp protectors and oodles more! Opt for the Mitsubishi Exceed model, and luxury appointments are well and truely laid on.
Safety features include the Mitsubishi RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution), which is a one-piece rigid shell that was designed to withstand the brutal punishing of all the ups and downs of the off-road World Rally Circuit. Dual driver and passenger airbags as well as driver, passenger and rear passenger side curtain airbags are standard – as is the roll over protection. MATT (Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology) incorporates Active Stability Control, Traction Control, Engine Brake Assist, Multi-Mode and Anti-lock braking systems to offer outstanding levels of grip and traction in even the most atrocious conditions. High-speed highway performance is in the top league, and the Pajero offers relaxed surefooted progress.
The Mitsubishi Pajero offers two engines in Australian showrooms. The 3.8 litre MIVEC V-6 petrol engine leads the charge with copious levels of power – 184 kW and 329 Nm of torque is an ample amount of grunt to tow the caravan or boat, with family and luggage, to your secret holiday destination. The 3.2 litre diesel option offers even greater pulling power with 441 Nm of torque. Off-road experts often comment on a diesel engine’s prowess for off-road performance. However, both are supremely capable of providing the power and efficiency when and where you need it.
Unmistakeably one of the world’s best 4×4 SUV options available on the market today. You will be impressed with the spacious family transport, tough design and lavish equipment levels promised by the big Mitsubishi Pajero.
Oh yes – and if you’ve heard the rumour that “Pajero” is a rude word in Spanish, this is probably not true, as the Pajero is a popular car that sold well in Spanish-speaking countries in South America, where the Mitsubishi Pajeros 4X4 ability was needed for rough roads in mountainous country.
