The Volkswagen Caddy is no ordinary van. Forget the Japanese white fridge on wheels look, and think European van with a sculptured front end and you’ll be getting pretty close to the sporty looking VW Caddy. With a sloping nose, and styling that denotes performance you will enjoy a smaller van that looks great and does the business.
The Volkswagen Caddy can be custom built to your requirements. This helps the buyer to be fully satisfied that their new set of wheels is going to meet all their business needs.
The Caddy is designed to move things; and the Volkswagen Caddy will do just that. There is loads of storage space that is added to the already voluminous space in the rear to carry masses of luggage – whether it might be boxes of fine china, clothing for the warehouse or paint and ladders for the next paint job.
Essentially the Caddy is built on Golf underpinnings so, to drive, the VW Caddy is very well balanced and highly refined for a business mule. The little van remains well balanced, even when fully loaded. The strong front and rear anti-roll bars and supple suspension makes it so easy to drive with handling very much like a small to mid-size car. Excellent engines complete the pleasant driving experience. The powerful and small bullet proof engines are frugal on fuel (according to independent reviews) and low on maintenance costs – essential in keeping business overheads down. The Caddy comes with the sprightly petrol powered four cylinder 1.4 litre engine that boasts a responsive 75 kW and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The 1.9 TDI engine will more than satisfy the whims of the diesel engine fanatic. Fuel frugality is as low as 6.2 litres/100 km on average. Not bad eh! The turbo diesel motor has plenty of pulling power in reserve with 250 Nm of torque available.
The asymmetric rear wing doors (1181mm) allow access for large items, and you can even get an optional tail gate model too. Both versions have a heated rear window with a wash/wipe feature.
You may forget you’re in a commercial vehicle while sitting behind the wheel. The Caddy is ergonomically well designed – just like its big VW brothers (Transporter and Multivan) – with everything within arms reach. The driver’s seat is fully adjustable for height, and, to make things more comfortable, an adjustable steering wheel with reach and rake capability make the VW Caddy a superbly comfortable small van to drive for many hours. There are ample storage spaces and cubby holes for lots of small items – there are even cup holders. You can even get an AM/FM stereo with a CD player and 4 speakers. Air conditioning comes as standard.
Volkswagen also puts safety first with the Caddy; there is a driver’s front airbag, a third brake light, and fog lights.
