Subaru Forester 2.0D

Model Update

New Subaru Foresters are stylish, offer many features and are able to tackle light off-roading duties in their stride.

Sporty lines and sporty detailing have made the Subaru Forester both appealing and fun to drive. Under the hood are a range of engines – the latest addition being an efficient 2.0-litre diesel that can return an average fuel economy figure of the low sixes/100 km. The Forester is a great car for the small family. There is plenty of room for passengers and luggage, so the getaway for the weekend adventure beckons all-the-more frequently.

Six airbags and an ANCAP safety result of five stars is part of every Forester’s standard feature list. Modern detailing in the cabin, plenty of luxury items, comfy seats, a refined drive – what more could you want?

Many people, for a long time, have enjoyed the bullet proof Subaru petrol engines. The refined, reliable way that a Subaru goes about its business has been legendary for a very long time. So, it is with some anticipation to find that Subaru have added a diesel option to the Forester line-up.

The new Subaru Forester 2.0D will be a worthy contender for the outdoor adventurer at heart. More than capable of mixing it with the big boys over a slippery paddock, forestry track or muddy incline, the Subaru Forester 2.0D is sure to be another Aussie success. When the weather turns to custard in Aussie – it ‘fair dinkem’ turns nasty, and what better way to combat a tough bout of weather conditions than in the best AWD wagon around: the Subaru Forester 2.0D.

Noticeably refined, the Subaru Forester 2.0D has a pleasant interior that looks very modern and stylish. The Subaru Forester 2.0D offers plenty of room, and the feature list for traveling comfort is a plentiful one. The higher-end models are equipped with luxuries like: a massively long sunroof, heated front seats, cruise control and climate control. All the other electrics are there too, like electric windows, central locking and a grunty audio system. The beauty of the Subaru Forester 2.0D is that you have a whole lot of handy luggage space for when it comes to taking the kids away skiing.

And speaking of skiing, the Subaru Forester 2.0D, is definitely one of the few AWD wagons that will competently tackle hills and rough surfaces. An icy trip away to the ski field is no problems for the commendable, Subaru designed, AWD technology. Getting there is half the fun, and the Subaru Forester 2.0D offers plenty of get-up-and-go -particularly in the midrange engine revs. A 350 Nm torque thrust provides forceful acceleration, and when the torque comes on strong from as low as just 1800 rpm it means that the Subaru Forester 2.0D pulls exceptionally well mid-range. Diesel economy is a given, and, undoubtedly, there will be far fewer fuel stops than in the thirstier petrol fed Subaru engines.

As is the case with all AWD Subarus, the ride and handling are simply superb. The Subaru Forester 2.0D is a little taller than other medium-sized wagons on the road. This is due to its extra off-roading ability. The boxy, upright stance gives a little more body roll in the corners, however the superior AWD running gear makes up for the body roll – giving the driver premium levels of grip in all road conditions.

The Subaru Forester 2.0D promises to be dependable and hard-wearing – just as was the case with Subaru’s past efforts, which have resulted in highly dependable, rock-solid cars. And being as rugged and roomy as it is, the Subaru Forester 2.0D will appeal to both the urban and rural driver.

All Subaru Foresters boast driver airbags, front passenger airbags, side and curtain airbags as standard. Collision avoidance and collision protection systems are paramount in achieving the Forester’s five star ANCAP rating, and every Subaru Forester comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and a VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) system. These systems bring together a raft of technologies like ABS, EBD and Brake Assist – so that driving the Subaru Forester 2.0D is, truly, a confidence enhancing experience.

Well priced, superbly safe, highly capable and durable, with such an excellent diesel power plant, the Subaru Forester 2.0D is the smart choice in an overloaded and overweight SUV market.

The current model series line-up is due to be revealed shortly for Australia, so keep your ears open for a great Subaru deal.
