It’s great to have the beaut little 4×4 from Suzuki available at such a competitive price. The Suzuki Jimny looks fabulously modern, and with its smoother and more rounded exterior styling will turn heads.
Four-wheel-driving adventure is only a push button engagement away. Resolute grip and insistent traction allows the Suzuki Jimny to tackle the toughest off-road terrain. It is always a hoot to drive off the road, where the Suzuki Jimny is more than capable of embarrassing bigger, heavier and thirstier 4WD vehicles.
Safety had been enhanced with dual airbags at the front. And you’ll find air-conditioning, electric windows and door mirrors, supportive seats, 15-inch alloy wheels and fuel efficiency make for a very appealing little 4×4 package.
Want the world’s smallest, most rugged and efficient off-roader? Then you need to take a look at the very capable Suzuki Jimny – a compact 4×4 that not only will take you off the beaten trail but will do this with ease.
The Suzuki Jimny is at home on the flat stuff as much as it is at home on the goat tracks. Moving in peak-flow traffic with zippiness and frugality means that city driving is thrifty and fun, too. This is one cool set of wheels, and with a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, 16-valve petrol engine delivering 63 kW of power you’re never going to break the bank at the fuel pump. This sparkling and willing engine is run through a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox and, to drive, the Suzuki Jimny is responsive and very happy to swag along at 100-to-120 km/h. Even on the tarmac, the rear-wheel driven (2WD selected) vehicle is fun to drive quickly through twisting corners.
If you’re intending to use your Suzuki Jimny for the toughest off-road fun, you might like to know that it has a ladder chassis. Yep, a true-blue proper 4×4 chassis that is very robust and strong. Along with the chassis strength, the Suzuki Jimny also has the serious high and low ratio gearbox. Because of its small size the Suzuki Jimny will take you where a lot of the ‘big-boy’ off-roaders might fear to tread. The live front and rear axles combined with three-link coil suspensions and separate shockers, give you better ground clearance in any environment.
The interior of the Suzuki Jimny provides enough head and legroom for the front driver and front passenger. Room in the rear seats is a little tighter for large adults (particularly if you eat a few too many sweets and biscuits), however the cleverness of Suzuki’s interior designers have ensured that every ounce of room has been made available for tall rear occupants. There is ample room for children in the split-folding rear seats. All seats are covered with a pleasant cloth material which will last the distance and look nice. The seats are also well padded and offer good support.
There is a generous level of standard equipment. Electric front windows, electric mirrors, power steering, central locking and an AM/FM audio system with a CD player are some of the nice items onboard. The stereo is MP3 compatible, as well.
Ergonomically well laid out, the Jimny’s controls are conveniently available, and the driver and passenger seating allows for very good all-round viewing when looking out the windows. There is also a tilt adjustable steering column and optional air-conditioning. Airbags are standard items of safety; so, too, are ABS brakes. Walk up to your flash little Suzuki Jimny, and you can unlock the doors using the remote key feature.
Optional 15-inch wheels look racy, while the Suzuki Jimny comes in four vivid exterior colours.
As a very capable four-wheel-drive vehicle that is exceptionally frugal on petrol, the Suzuki Jimny has the ability to punch well above its weight. It’s a pretty cool looking vehicle, and remains the most economical (averaging 7.3 litres/100 km), low running cost 4×4 on the market. It’s well worth a look.
