The Volvo C30 T5 is the thoroughbred in the line-up, and it is very capable of upsetting the ego of owners driving rival marques. The Volvo C30 T5 has, ready at one’s toes, 169 kW and an amazing 320 Nm of torque right across an rpm range of 1500–5000 rpm! Put the C30 T5 under the pump through the corners and gun down the straights, and you will understand why the T5 covers the ground and outguns many larger and more expensive machines on the road. The diesel engine is also torquey, and yet has class leading refinement with an open road fuel economy of just 5.4 litres/100 km. You might find it hard to believe, but the Volvo C30 D5 is only 20 km/h short of the T5 240 km/h top speed. Yes, that’s impressive!
