Taking the A-Class automobile to the next level, the Mercedes-Benz A200 has revamped their small car market with some nice stylish and innovative features. A classy small car from any angle, the stunning design involves a menacing and sleek little nose that swoops sharply over the rake of the windscreen and down toward the tidy back end. Certainly a real head turner, the all new Mercedes-Benz A200 has what it takes in the looks department to send off nearly all of its rivals.
Let’s open the door and take a look inside. Wow, no disapointments here whatsoever! Leather seats that are sculptured to hug the bodies lucky enough to grace these comfy seats impress. The leather seating can come in some wonderful two tone colours – like the very impressive black and tan. The facia is classy and offers a look that is very modern and sophisticated. The instruments are placed nicely within reach for the driver, and as you would expect, are of a high quality. Luxury items are packed into the roomy little cabin. The standard multi-function steering wheel has the techno capabilities of driving a Harmon/Kardon premium surround-sound system, a telephone, and the superb on-board computer and navigation system.
Take the grippy steering wheel in your hand and enjoy the tight feel that the little A200 has on the road. What a joy it is to put the engine through its paces! The Mercedes-Benz A200 3 and 5 door versions have a sprightly 1.7 litre engine with an output of 100 kW. This is enough power for the day to day driving conditions that demand economical and responsive driving in tight traffic, whether running the city streets or legging it on the motorway. Style is not lost in the quest for more power, so slipping into the fiesty A200 Turbo is a lively experience that is draped in comfort. On offer underneath your right foot is a maximum power output of 142 kW. The flat torque curve that constantly runs unhindered from 1500 rpm right through to 4500 rpm is sparkling and ready to pull you swiftly away from slower moving traffic as the need arises. The six speed manual gearbox is very slick in the Turbo model; so too, is the five speed manual when linked to 100 kW. The CVT transmission is a superb option for those who enjoy relaxed perfomance. The Mercedes-Benz A200 is front-wheel drive with sports traction control, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes (ABS) as standard features. The handling of the A200 has been considerably improved with precision tracking and anti-roll support as well as a parabolic rear axle design. Mercedes-Benz also goes the additional mile, as one would expect, by adding their Selective Damping System which adjusts the shocks depending on the road conditions and speed. A good option they offer is run-flat tires which will help you get to a service station if there isn’t one right handy.
A Mercedes-Benz A200 is well geared to its occupants’ comfort as far as seating goes, with ample room both front and rear. You can slip into a Mercedes-Benz A200 for under fifty thousand, a great deal when you consider this is a very well made vehicle that will provide years of service that Mercedes-Benz is reknowned for. Stunning small car styling and performance; you just can’t go wrong.
